December is my beginning month and my pre-TSM was 35-40 units weekly. I'm finding my dislike for Nal (queasy, sleepy, loopy) is making me not want to take it and I've been doing anywhere from 3-5 days AF, then I take l/2 Nal and drink anywhere from 2-5 units (red wine). I'm finding my cravings level very low, but my habit still kicks in around cocktail hour and I just work thru it with soda and lime. I really want to be free of the addiction and have the privilege of a drink socially. That's why I ordered the Nal, but now I'm so reluctant to take it because I don't like the way it makes me feel and I feel like it just isn't worth taking it for only 2-5 drinks because I can manage that without Nal. I know everyone says you get used to it, but how long will it take if I'm only taking it a couple of times a week or less? Anybody else experience these feelings?

What is so wrong with feeling a little Lo0py?

Stick with it, most people have those SE's and they do fade quickly. I think they will fade quickly even if you're only taking a couple doses a week.

If ever there was a time to 'power through' some side effects, it is now. Very many of us had nausea (some also had spaciness) that was much stronger than we had expected. In every case that I can think of, after a couple of weeks it became a complete non-issue. Cold comfort at the moment, I know. Hang in there.

I got used to it in about a week or so (and my side effects too were very unpleasant).

But that was drinking everyday (so seven to nine doses, I'd say). Just speculating here, but maybe it will take a little longer to get used to if your drinking and Nal taking is more spread out? Since then I've hardly noticed taking it at all, you do get used to it very quickly, so PLEASE don't give up at this early stage (I even wrote on my thread here after a couple of days that I was thinking of quitting TSM because of the SEs, but am so glad I persevered).

All the best to you, hang on in there!!

eight :)

Thanks Everyone! I'm finally getting over the SE's and find that I'm drinking far less on Nal - 2-5 drinks per evening since Christmas. I'm planning on going AF after New Year's as I don't like taking any kind of meds, but I plan to NEVER DRINK AGAIN WITHOUT NAL. Don't know how long it'll take to be "cured" but at least there's hope at the end of the journey. Thanks again for all the support.
