Hi folks, this will be brief. Just back from 10 day vacation. Lot's to read here and from what I gather a lot has happened. I am not too pleased with myself at the moment because my drinking was way up again and 24/7! So I plan to have as many AF days as I can muster and lick my wounds and go forward. I thought I could have done better. Just wanted to say I didn't drop out and am still here! Good luck to all! Lot's of positive input since I was last here. Week 9 45 Units, 1 AF day. Can't seem to add this to my progress line will have to consolidate I think!

Excellent job on not dropping out!

I don't think any of us here are saints, so don't beat yourself up about your vacation. You still took your Nal faithfully and that's essentially what TSM is all about... Drinking+Nal=Cure.

Bob

WTE, how is it that I can always count on you to make me feel better!!!!! Had a few rough days, my fault, but back to basics. I don't really have to be as crazy as I have been. I think tsm will work with 6 drinks as well as with 15, lol. This old stomach can't take the party life anymore! Later, and thanks again. M

Well, heading into 3rd month. Numbers are down but no where I hoped I would be this week. I was way down until this weekend, count as of Sat. morning was 26!!!! Then came the dreaded weekend with a big trigger, family get together and over the top I went with abandon, as if I was not on naltrexone at all. Couldn't/wouldn't/didn't stop! Saturday 12 units and then the rest on Sunday just nursing the hangover. Back to the drawing board this week hoping I will do better. My liver needs a break and oh those hangovers!

Someone here – Lena? – posted a link awhile back to moodgym.com. I’ve been going through the exercises, and find it very useful and enlightening. What I see you doing here, LaBear, is described in one of the sessions. The term for it is “Disqualifying the Positive,” whereby a person dismisses any positive actions/thoughts, and focuses only on the negative. You only had 26 drinks thru the week, GF – that’s progress! So what if you didn’t have a blazing success over the weekend? Why take it so personally? You know that, in the bigger picture, this is going to take some time. You know that weekend drinking is a trigger (as it is for most of us). You know that you haven’t extinguished all your triggers, and few of your really big ones. So don’t waste so much energy beating yourself up – just keep on taking your naltrexone, counting your drinks, and posting here, where’ we’ll do the beating up for you!

Yup, G4M, I am sure you will, lol! I just want to make sure that this works before my liver gives out. Can be a road race on that score! Would also like to skip the hangovers I still get which make me feel that death is just around the corner, not good! Otherwise life is good, lol! You are fortunate to have someone doing this with you. When I quit drinking for 13 yrs. I had someone in the beginning quitting at the same time and that is so very helpful. Thank your lucky stars!!!! My husband is a good guy but not very suportive in this process, just sort of ignores the whole thing! For the most part I am not a falling down drunk, nor do I cause problems, usually that is, so he thinks I just drink a bit too much at times and that's it. He isn't home here when I suck down a bottle of wine either! Sorry that you found my post so negative but this is a place to say what one thinks! And these are my thoughts!!!! A cheering squad is always appreciated, lol. Thank you for sharing your feelings too!

Oh I know it's easier to tell someone else to be kind to themselves than it is to do for our own self. Just thought it wouldn't hurt to be reminded. Progress is progress!

I had a lousy afternoon/evening yesterday. My attorney called, and there's yet another legal snafu - feels like this crap will never end. I poured a big glass of Crown Royal, then finished off a bottle of chard. Did I feel better? Hell, no! Trying not to kick myself too hard today. . .

G4More, sorry for your troubles, yes those dam triggers. Had a bottle of Crown Royal hanging around for about 10 years and then I started drinking again and even though that would never be my drink, it's missing, lol!!!! Must have been 20 year old stuff! All Gone!!!! Hope it all works out for you. This is went we have to try to just live in the moment and that is easier said than done!

If you take the middle of your pre-Sinclair numbers (80) then at 45 you are nearly at one-half of what you were drinking! Good job, keep at it! Rooting for you!

Thanks Nick, now I have to conquer the benzo problem, have been dragging my feet on that one! We will see about this week with the long weekend. So far 1 AF day, can have more, but to be honest have not been trying too hard. I am mindful of the units now and don't think that is a bad thing. Lot's of habits other than the craving, in other words mindless drinking. Glad you are doing so well. Spoke for a long while with my therapist yesterday about tsm and he was optimistic also. I mentioned your progress actually. Trying to give him a feel for they high functioning people here who really believe in this process! He actually was listening! Would it not be wonderful if the word got out so as to make it easier for everyone to get Naltrexone
through their insurance! I don't even have to pay because I use a mail in plan. Sorry for the cost to most!
