As I go through this forum and read everyone's story I feel a little voyeuristic, but they sure are helpful to me. Zontar, your story is amazing and brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful surprise gift to come into your life! I loved "It's a boy". It sounds like a perfect day. I look forward to hearing more about the visit.

Oh wow Zontar - he used to have a problem with AL? Yes I am sure that you will talk about it - glad that he doesn't drink now though - and great for you too - all sounds really good .....

Hugs, Maggie x

another good day. this time I spent time with "mom" as well, and didn't really get to talk to him alone. mom has some very real problems (AL and otherwise), so I'm really glad he has his wife along to help him process.

cool thing is, I'm picking up my stepdaughter from the airport tomorrow, who just by chance is coming back home this week, so she'll get to meet her "new stepbrother" or whatever you want to call him. he also gets to meet my dad, who is in his 80's, a real sweetheart and very excited to meet him.

I would have liked to have had time alone w him today, but just darn glad he's here.

Oh, yeah, no AL all day, though I'm having a glass of Shiraz right now. it's been a brain-frying day, so cut me some slack! :)

Hellz yeah some slack! Big stuff! Thanks for sharing. This would be a lame forum if it was all drudgery.
Steve.

zontar, I am so glad it is all going so well. Isn't that cool that your Dad in his 80s gets to meet a new Grandson? The extended family stuff is great. I told you that for me personally things with my mother didn't really work out (talk about ISSUES), BUT I am friendly with a few people in her family and it is such a nice and cool addition to my life. It really is neat that he has carved out a chunk of time to get to know you. And given the issues with the mom, I am so glad that you are there so that overall it is a great experience for him. He must be feeling so many emotions, and there is no way to describe to you what you are doing for him. Someone who wasn't adopted I don't think could ever really understand it. Suffice it to say that it is HUGE. How wonderful for all of you. xoxo Newlife

yeah, we're discovering some weird connections. I used to work with a girl at a bike shop that is the big sister on his childhood best friend. in other words, this young woman (who I am fairly good friends with) knew me before he did. we were at her shop in another town yesterday but it wasn't open. it would have been fun to walk in and have her say "how do you two know each other?".

I'm pretty damn happy right now, but the emotions are quite incredible. no tears yet, but they're coming, dammit I can see that....

That's great!! It's ok for men to cry, in fact it speaks volumes for them if they can. You can do it privately, no one has to know. So happy for you. Newlife

I love the posts that leave me smiling ear to ear. This is such a great story! You are both so lucky. I hope he and step-daughter hit it off. Do either of them have other siblings?

my stepdaughter is an only child. he has an adopted brother. yeah, they acted like they've known each other a while...

he met my dad yesterday, who is really sweet. he showed them a zillion pictures and entertained them with stories of my past. I think he got a pretty good kick out of it.
