You may well be right that a fully nonaddicted person wouldn't have had that drink, but you've clearly made a lot of progress away from addiction. I betcha you're feeling great about that.

That's a good one - I've never heard that! I'll keep that in mind. ;)

I drank 0 drinks last week and two tonight. I could have skipped the second glass of wine easily. Feeling okay but I was kind of bored tonight and started missing the buzz of alcohol. The two glasses of wine I drank were no help at all. I keep hoping that with extinction I won't miss the buzz, but maybe I'm expecting too much? Or maybe I'm just paying too much attention to these random very rare thoughts of missing it.....

Happy week everyone!

maggiemay, you're doing so well. No drinks in a whole week?!!... that's astounding. :)

Do you mind me asking if you've set an end goal? Are you planning on abstinence?

I hope this week is going well for you.

Ruth.

Hi Ruth -

Yes, that was a good week, but this week not so much. ;) Again, I had an urge to drink and did so without Nal one night. It wasn't really that fun. But I noticed last night that I had the urge again (because I drank without Nal on Monday?). I struggled for a while then took my Nal reluctantly. I had two few beers and feel kind of yucky today which is really annoying. I should not feel bad from two beers.

When I started out I thought I'd be able to enjoy alcohol moderately and that was my goal. Now it appears, since I don't enjoy it that much when I drink and I have a small hangover after two beers, abstinence is a desirable goal.

I think I've been a bit vulnerable this week with the holidays.....

I hope you are doing well.

Hi all -

Well, as you can see, I've been slipping a bit. Due to the holidays I've had more social drinking situations and I decided NOT to take Nal because I feared the hangover that I knew would come if I drank too much on Nal. Since I am not completely cured I didn't trust that I would not drink too much and be in bed sick all day the next day which I really couldn't afford.

I did okay pacing myself and was not overcome by huge cravings and was able to function the next day so I don't regret what I did but now I'm back on track and will be taking Nal as usual. Hopefully by next Christmas I will be completely indifferent!

To elaborate, on most of the occasions, I was doing something social that I preferred not to do so I think I used the alcohol as a crutch, as usual, to get through those situations. I really struggle with being an introvert, with accepting how I am. I'd rather not go out and do stuff sometimes but I think I "should." For example, I could have stayed home on NYE but some friends invited us over. I worry about not having something exciting to do that night, but then I fear going out and would almost rather stay home and go to bed early and be safe. To me, going out on NYE requires drinking. In my mind, on NYE I almost preferred to stay home but went out partly out of a "should" and partly so my son would have some fun. It ended up being fun, and not too damaging, but I'm sure I've set myself back with extinction.

Happy New Year everyone!

I'm glad you recognize the potential dangers of drinking without naltrexone. Stay alert. :)

I don't think I understand your signature. How can you have part of an AF day, like 6.25 AF?
