What an amazing and inspirational story Pixiedoll! I am so glad to hear of your progress. I think a lot of us will end up where you are - sure maybe we like alcohol a little bit more than the average person and soemitmes drink too much, but we are generally in control and alcoholism no longer rules our lives. Thank god for TSM!!!

Thanks for sharing that, pixeldoll. It's great to hear that you're doing so well, and I'm sure that you're going to get there. Knowing when it's time to stop drinking seems like it should be so simple, yet for years it's eluded me - I'm really happy for you being given the miracle, and am grateful for the encouragement from someone ahead of me in the journey :) Nal on!

Thanks for the inspiring post, Pix! Keep up the great work because the studies show that TSM continues to be increasingly effective in years 2-3.

Very inspiring success story, thank you for sharing! One of many on this board that have become my inspiration and motivation to do TSM.

Hello!!!

I just thought I'd drop in to say hi-- I was doing a little bit of research into Nalmefene (just to see if it could supplement my nal in any way), and thought I'd check in with you all, who really, really helped push me towards the awesome decision to begin the Sinclair Method.

Now-- it DOES take willpower. It DOES take patience. You DO have rough patches. The alcohol cravings don't magically disappear forever.

But compared to the life I was living before? I can't even express the difference. I might still like alcohol more than the average person (for sure!), I might still drink more than I'd like... But my original alcohol consumption made me unable to even have a real life. I was either waking up with a crippling hangover (which I would remedy immediately with liquor), or on my way to passing out. There wasn't really any in-between.

Now? I drink every other day, and only after 7pm (always having taken my nal an hour beforehand, of course). While I still average something like five or six beers in these sessions, I NEVER feel out of control. I NEVER embarrass myself. I feel 100% functional.

The only remaining concern I have about my drinking is that I know the quantity I drink might still be an issue for my liver, but I'm having regular doctor's appointments to keep that in check, and doing my best to cut down, still. However, all social and emotional concerns? Absolutely gone.

So... Maybe nal isn't a miracle cure. But if you're willing to put the effort in, then you will see some extraordinary changes. :D

Now, with all of that out of the way, I DO want to ask about nalmefene, as a supplement. Obviously, I've been having a great experience with naltrexone on its own, but, like I said, I'm trying to be cautious with my liver, so if I could cut it down even further, that would be great! Does anyone have any experience with it?

Ive been reading up as much as I can on nalfemene and from what i can gather it works on the same principles as naltraxone but doesnt have any impact on the liver which is good news. Its licienced for gp's to prescribe in the UK at the moment and due to become available in Ireland in the Autumn. The trade name is Selincro.

By the way your progress is amazing. Though we were unlucky to become alcoholics in the first place we are fortunate that we live in a time where we have effective methods of combating the blasted illness. Because of the massive money that is to be made by the drug company behind Selincro the upshot should be that many many thousands of alcoholics and problem drinkers out there will now be made aware of the cure. As always its a case of follow the money. :(
