Happy Holidays to All of My Dear TSM Family!!! I sincerely hope your holidays are filled with love and laughter!

Sticky, you lead one hell of a high life. Sailing for a month, eh? Well, bon voyage my friend!!

Thank you for all the well wishes too!!!

Okay, let's catch up shall we? I have managed to string together 10 days straight of drinking. All in all: 70 units. That's obviously an average of 7 units per day. It's better than I was even a few months ago. I am finding that I will hit it hard and have 21 in two days and then have 2 beers the next day. Up, down is my intake graph of late.

I waited on a table of tee-totalers and they left half a bottle of my long-ago favorite--pinot grigio. I took a Nal and poured a glass... and dumped it all down the drain. It tasted absolutely putrid! So I've been drinking just beer and indulged in 3 Jaeger shots the other night with no bad consequences which I am thankful for.

And I am a bonafide cougar as I have been banging a 30-something year old hottie who is 8 years my junior. It's just for fun and it has been just that! After that teacher turned psycho.... well, I don't even want to go there. Nor do I need to justify my choices in life. Juicy one night stands and passionate affairs are the spice of life and as time marches, let's face it, those sexual encounters become few and far between.

Excuse me while I kiss the sky.

Anyway, I put notices in at both places of employment. Booked the ferry. Bought some clothing that will keep me warm in the blisteringly cold Fairbanks. And well, Guys-- I mean, this could be the big break I have hoped and prayed for forever. It's time I get mine.

Surprisingly I am not hungover today even after having 8 Alaskan IPA's last night. Costume party tonight at the bar I work at. Hopefully my paramore will show up so we can continue our... (clear throat here)... activities.

Lastly, for those of you who have Netflix, I saw the most heart-warming documentary last night about a real horse whisperer. It's called, "Buck." It just tickled my soul.

Love you guys and bye for now,

Ketchikan1

hey ketch-

saw your post on my thread but thought i would reply here. it's really like any other job - it's the desire to be there, to work, not grumble when being asked to stay late or show up early, to have a positive attitude. try to work that fine line with being interested in what you/they are doing without being too "much" so that people can't get things done. i liked eager beavers but sometimes they could be a bit much, if you know what i mean. i've never done tv - commercials, movies, and music videos. but there is normally a fair amount of down time -setting up shots, glam squad (hair, m/u, stylists) tweaks or wardrobe changes, etc. you normally have time to get to know people on a set. just be yourself. if your "speech" self is anything like your "written" self you are going to do fine. people just want to surround themselves with good, fun, people who will work. it's a job that asks you to show up early and stay late, if you can do it and have a good time with it - people will love you. i suggest really taking a look around and seeing what appeals to you in the industry, if anything does. whatever sticks out, get to know the people in that department. connections, word-of-mouth are going to be your "in", if you desire. feel free to ask me any questions you have. i haven't been in the industry in 7 yrs, but i doubt it's changed too much. oh, and ALWAYS answer your walkie talkie (unless you're in the potty;) and never, NEVER, say anything personal on it, even if you go to channel 2, because everyone goes to 2. that will make way more sense when you are on set. good luck. i know you will kick some ass.

Hey Ketch

You must be older than I thought after your last post. I thought your were late 20's like EL. Good on you for having fun with your latest man - enjoy!!

Sadly I am not having a whole month away sailing. Our 13-year-old is keen to stay home, but unfortunately for him he is too young. Our younger son (10) has a soccer training session for 2 days 12-13 Jan with the remote possibility of going to train in England. I am bringing both boys home on the bus while hubby and probably our nephew sail the boat half way home from the Bay of Islands. Then we will go back up on the bus to bring the boat home. Sailing is wonderful but our boat is far from luxurious (only 24' and built in the 1970's). Our kids friends have the 50' luxury yacht and/or the $2-3 million house, so we always fall short.... "Why haven't we been to Disneyland, why can't we have a bigger house", etc, etc..

Take care and nal on

Sticky ;)

It's good to read your excitement! It's really good to know you are going on to an adventure somewhere out there. I am sort of envious!

Good to see you using your claws! :)

I have a good feeling about this new professional opportunity, Ketch! I think you're going to rock it. And hopefully you will be so busy and fulfilled you won't drink as much to boot! Good luck and keep us posted :)
