I am also curious as to why you would stop taking the Nal before you drink, other than the fact that you'd probably be one of the first 100 people or so on earth to do so...with unpublished results...in an unsupervised setting... ...and probably some other reasons....

I'm not sure what you mean by "with unpublished results" and "in an unsupervised setting". Perhaps you could explain. However, the reason for my stopping naltrexone is, quite simply, because that is what I have been advised to do by the consultant whose supervision I am now under. This consultant works with both naltrexone and baclofen and is one of the UK's foremost alcohol addiction specialists.

I can't imagine that, in spite of your continued high consumption, nothing has changed.

What if it is your GAD that is driving you to drink? What if when you get that under control you find that it was just the last piece of the puzzle, and that TSM has been working on TSM's part of your addiction all along? There are just too many variables. The only way we'd benefit as a community would be if you stuck around and kept us updated in the latest happenings in V's world.

Sadly, I have no reason whatsoever to think that anything has changed whilst following TSM - regardless of whether I'm aware of it or not. After all, Drs Sinclair and Eskapa have said that TSM has a 78% success rate. It is a fact that TSM does not work for everyone, possibly for genetic reasons.

I have previously said that the GAD and OCD drove me to drink excessively. I am in no doubt about that. As stated previously, I will keep people informed about my (hopefully) future progress.

Hi Virgil,

I am very interested in your posts as everyone else has stated. Please keep us updated. I look forward to the convention we'll have someday when we get a bigger cured list.

Maybe ultimately the cure is a combo of both as Lo0p I think is doing or just the Baclofen which you're going to do. Either way, it doesn't matter, diesel, gas, or better yet electric (with solar and wind powered electricity) they all work just gotta have the right engine. Best to you, Jim :)

Hi Virgil, I am so behind in reading here but when I log in your posts are the very first I read. I agree with everyone we want to here everything about the baclofen experience. Did you start taking it yet? Did it make a difference? I don't have access to an addiction specialist and so what he/she has advised is something I would also follow. Thank you for sharing this info. Hi LaBear,

Good to hear from you.

I have started taking the baclofen but it's much too early to make any comments about its effects - positive or negative. However, as soon as I have anything to report, this community will be the first to know!

Best wishes.

So you're not gonna crush it up and mainline it in life-threatening doses like I did? Yes, that's a joke. Although not a very funny one.

How much do you have Virgil? How much did he prescribe for you?

I've gotta jump on my bike and start my cardio in a few minutes and then it's off to work for me. When I get home I'll email you my consumption graph (link in my sig) with notations of my baclofen doses on it. As long as you understand that replicating it may very well constitute a death wish...which I'm sure you do.

Virgil,

I am sorry that TSM did not work for you. You and I had very similar plans, try TSM for 9 months, then try baclofen. I suffer from OCD and hypomania (with its accompanying anxiety) , so we are also similar in that respect. The difference for me was TSM worked after 5 months of treatment and it continues to do so. I still have too take meds for OCD and Benzos for the mania, but at least I'm not in an alcoholic death spiral any longer.

You will eventually find your cure. I don't know if you remember, but I underwent Aversion Therapy 13 months ago and that still has an effect on me to this day. Prior to that therapy, my DOC was Bourbon and Vodka. To this day, I can't even smell or look at the stuff without getting nauseous. Under TSM, I only drank Guinness Stout, since it was the only beverage that was unaffected by the Aversion Therapy. And now I really don't care for it either that much.

All that to say there are other medical therapies available to you and if you keep trying you'll find the one that works for you.

Bob

Hi Virgil,
I have been away, and have just caught up on your posts.
I find what you are doing very inspiring and have everything crossed that this new treatment works for you.
Good Luck with it.
