Hi El, I bet revolutionary fervor can be quite a trigger in itself, so congratulations on pulling out those good moderation techniques! It sounds like you were able to curtail any spiraling out of control from drinking w/o nal, which points to good, permanent self-care structures that you have instilled in yourself over the TSM process. Isn't that exciting to think that although we may all need to use nal when we drink for the duration of our drinking lives, that we are also making awesome, real, true, positive changes in our mental and emotional lives that we will always have as inner resources?

Good luck with the job next week. I have just started to go full-bore with a job search so I am about where you were when you were 10 applications in to the 250 (??) or so that you said you'd applied to total. Oh my god, I don't know if I will have the fortitude to go through such a long search. It's tough out there!

I think that is terrific you were able to stop at 4, or 6 or whatever...to stop at a reasonable level, is the point. After all, real life is going to keep happening, and its good to get that reality check of what it is like w/o Nal. It would be so easy especially to justify getting swept away in the excitement of the Occupy Wall Street event...at least, I always tend to justify my behaviors in those situations. So...good job, E-Lou!

Hi EL

Occupy Wall St must have been quite exciting. Glad to hear you weren't arrested (or injured, like some of the people I have seen on TV.) Well done on a good week, even the night you didn't take nal.
All the best for the new job.

Cheers
Sticky :P

Hey Electra. Proud of you for your continual progress in TSM!!!

I was there in downtown Tampa at their "Occupy Tampa." Same message, much less people!!

32,000... wow! That is the entire population of Juneau! Glad you were a part of it and not on the arrest sheet!

Here's what we can do immediately to really send a message and affect change: Remove your $$$$ from accounts at major mega-banks. Instead, find peace and fairness in banking at good, old-fashioned credit unions. Banksters do not exist in credit untions, but they do practice greedily especially at Bank of America, Wells Fargo, JP Morgan, Chase, Goldman-Sachs (of-shite), etc.

If you want to stand up against the system-- switch to a credit union!

Take that you banksters,

Ketchikan1

P.S. Abolish the stupid Federal Reserve while we're at it. The Federal Reserve is no more federal than Federal Express! They create $$$$ out of thin air and then tag on blackhole interest that cannot possibly be paid back. How did we get sucked in to this scheme in the first place? Oh yeah, the Federal Reserve Act of 1913..... hmmmmmmm..... bastards..... and they keep getting away with it!!! It is truly maddening.

Hey Lou -- Wish I could have been there marching across the bridge. Very cool.

Good work this week even with the no-nal twist. I'm a big fan.

Hi EL - I really hope that Deja is right about this! It would also be cool to see some of these positive lifestyle changes applied to areas of our lives other than saucin'. I think your new job starts today, so best of luck to you out there. You picked a good week to start, since you'll get a nice little holiday to break it up.

Take care.

Well done, you! Lesson learnt and no harm done. It just goes to show how effective Nal is :)

OWS, how exciting! Just being there must have been a natural high in itself.

Congrats EL on your self control, even without Nal. All the practice using moderation techniques really paid off. And that must have been a very exciting night on Friday. I admire your ability to self regulate.

I hope, against the odds, that you are enjoying your new job. :)

Best,

First I want to apologize for not commenting on people's posts recently - aside from the holidays, I've also started a new job (more on that later) so I've been quite busy. My weekly recap for last week (before the new job) was 21. Not great, esp since it was only three drinking days, but one day was a best friend's big birthday party. I didn't get out of control at any point, just had a lot of units over a long period of time.
I'm concerned that this new job is already driving me to drink and smoke too much again, however. It's really stressful and a lot of my fears about the company have already been justified. Anyways, I'll write more about this later.

Hey Lou:

Sorry to hear the job is stressing you. Hope you can listen to all the wisdom already within you about how to handle tough spots. You've been a big inspiration to so many on the board with your insight into how to navigate rough water. You've got all that it takes!

Hang in there pal.
