Week 8 - 104 units.
What can I say .... I take my NAL 1 hour before the first drink and drink as "normal". I really dont have much to say about what's happening. A lifetime of PTSD and Social Phobia means I dont talk about myself much. I am a little anxious about my NAL supply. I see my Doctor again in a week for a new Rx and if I'm honest with him then there has been no improvement. I guess I just wont be honest with him. I'm going to take Dr Eskapa's book with me and I hope my GP will agree to read the chapter for Medicos.

That 4-8 week stretch can be pretty tough - I know it was for me. You can't always see the progress you're making, but you gotta just go on faith at that point. Faith and a great deal of evidence and experience. Sounds like you're doing just fine.

Hi Tuttle,

Just keep at it, and you'll be OK. Like Firebird said, just have faith and don't question it at this point - it is working, even though it doesn't seem like it. Although I'm not a fan of lying, I would just tell your doc that you're pleased with your results so far, but it can take at least 3-4 months (as stated in the book), so you're not even close to that at this point. Just hang in there - it will get better. :)

Hang in there Tuttle. It's WAY too early to draw any conclusions. Extinction takes several months -- 3 to 4 MINIMUM and a lot longer if you have been having more than 35 per week like the subjects in the studies. Also, progress is often not detectable. Go read Bob's post from eight weeks out. He was very negative and thinking he was going no where and continued to see no progress for months. And now he is a proud member of THE CURED. Chin up, we are all rooting for you! And copy this and bring it to your doctor as the New York Times has tremendous credibility world-wide and this article confirms naltrexone and TSM are effective in treating alcoholism. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/12/healt ... one&st=cse

My best to you,

Nick

Week 9 - 94 units.

My units are down slightly this week but there have been external influences so dont read to much into it.
I'm seeing my Dr today to get my NAL script and also to deliver Dr Eskapa's book to him.
He has agreed to read the chapter for Medicos and I will also ask him to read the rest of the book. :)

Week 10 - 85 Units.

Well now ... this has been an interesting week.
My units are down as well as my cravings.
On one day, I even "forgot" to watch the clock and missed my usual start time by an hour. lol
I also saw my Doctor and without me asking he said he would read all of Dr Eskapa's book.
I feel very lucky to have such a dedicated and open-minded GP. :)

Week 11 - 77 units.

These last couple of weeks I have been very tired at days end.
I wonder if anyone else has experienced this.
As a consequence I am going to bed earlier than usual and this could explain the decrease in my units.
However ... last night I only had 9 units and I wasn't really enjoying them as I usually do.
Could this be extinction? :?:
