Guys - just have to tell you (and hopefully I won't jinx myself)...but 3 amazing things have happened this week so far. This after I was close to totally giving up 2 weeks ago (although would never admit it here - what good would that do?)...

1. opened a new bottle of wine after a glass and 1/2 at dinner - let it breathe..then later recorked it untouched. went to bed after an hour or so.
2. last night -- decided to drink. had 1 full glass. then poured a second that was like 3-4 ounces only - what??? then went to bed after reading a few hours. ( My glasses are always 7 oz minimum. )
3. tonight...af. No desire whatsoever. Someone shouted out to me after a school event that we needed to get together for a glass of wine and I just said, 'Yeah! let me know"...but instead I thought, 'jeez, that doesn't really sound appealing to me...'

God I'm so hopeful right now. Could this be it? Could this actually work? Please. please. please...

In other words, alcoholic behavior is definitely becoming a thing of the past, even though alcoholic drinking is not yet extinguished. Odd, but definitely true.

Yes that is what I too, am experiencing. Still drinking, but the abusive, unthinking, Al behavior has (for) the most part, left me. I over think the drinking and I remain at levels (1 1/2 to 2 bottles white wine per day) I get the buzz, but I never go over the top. I really hope this shall happen for me. I am being diligent , I do not want this AL curse in my life, but I so do love the drug (AL) AHHHHH!

Week 10 posted in top (5/14/2009).

And yes - we have many, many winners here! We are all getting there together...slowly...but I see lots of progress on the board even with the frustrations. I'm personally not ready to declare victory, just very happy for the gift of some signs of progress at this point.

Reading posts such as these makes me really want to be at week 12 or 13, but I have even experienced a bit of this kind of thing at week 6. Definitely a change in behavior and attitude, even though the drinking hasn't gone down that much.

happy. . .great progress report. I wonder if your comparatively low drinking levels before TSM will enable you to have faster success at extinction than those of us who drank at least twice as much on a daily basis. It will be VERY interesting to see, once a number of us have achieved our goal, to look back at the various types of drinkers and see if there are definite patterns of recovery related to various patterns of drinking.

G4M - totally agree. I think people should definitely note that my drinking levels were not as high (yet) as others so I really, really think that helps the extinction work faster...so everyone should still take that as a positive sign of things to come. And note that I do not think there is any correlation in pre-sinclair drinking levels and the liklihood of success. Higher levels may take longer simply because you may be further into the addiction but I think it's working for most of us.

Firebird - my cravings decreased right away as well as my drinking...then the drinking climbed all the way back up again and is only now going back down again. So - I think you are following the same pattern as me. It'll happen for you soon!
