I had an AF day yesterday. Some alcoholic I am... I couldn't bear to even think about drinking that awful burning stinking liquid yesterday when "the time" came. So I didn't.

I had a fairly nice evening, except I had bouts of sweating profusely on and of all evening and even in the middle of the night. I had to change clothes twice and shower a second time yesterday, it got so bad. I haven't changed my benzo dosage for a while, so I doubt that they are what is causing it. Perhaps alcohol detox? Hard to believe since the previous night was only 5 units. I don't know what's going on. I'm just very happy about the AF day!

Bob

Bob, that has happened to me too for no particular reason either. Came home for somewhere and marched right up stairs stripped and jumped into the shower to cool my body down, not a good feeling! It does happen
that way and not necessarily when we drink a lot either.

I know that a lot of us get night sweats on Naltrexone, but I had not specifically read of anyone having them on an AF day as I had yesterday. Are you referring to sweating with no AL in your system, or on an AF day? I guess it's the same thing if it's AF day 1. But even right now, at the beginning of AF day 2, I'm sweating. I really don't understand what is happening.

Yes Bob it has happened to me on AF days and days with or without Naltrexone, doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason. I just went for a walk, it's cool here, nice weather got home and was drenched! It EST. 10:00 a.m. no Naltrexone but had it yesterday with more than a few units, so don't know the answer either, very strange. I hear people talking about this at the same time and then the board quiets down about it and then all of a sudden out of nowhere we are all sweating, strange indeed. It's not just the benzo bunch either WTE has mentioned it as has Houtx!?

Well, I bought the last 6 pack of Guinness in my small town yesterday to supplement the lonely bottle left over from the previous night. Last night, I drank 6 units with 1 unit remaining unit in the fridge. So, I guess tonight will be an AF night. Even in this vacation period of time, my cravings are diminished to the point that I won't travel out of my way to get alcohol. I can drive about 15 minutes from where I live to a larger city to get as much Guinness as I want, but 15 minutes there, 15 minutes shopping, 15 minutes back, is just too much trouble and I am happy that I feel that way, right now at least. I'll see how I feel later today when "it's time" to drink.

That's fantastic Bob!!!! Don't you love that feeling that you could care less about the booze???? I went out to dinner last night with my mom amd my 3 daughters and I would normally have 2 draught, and this time, I had NONE!!!! Then I went to a surprise birthday party for a friend, and I didn't drink!!!! I could care less. Didn't bother me in the least. They even had Bud Lite Lime which in Canada is near impossible to get! YAY ME!

Tonight will be a bit of a challenge....UFC 100. A big drinking deal for me. It has an amazing card, so my goal is to stay sober so that I can enjoy the fights, my goal.

Anyway.....I just wanted to commend you for not driving farther to get more beer. Good job!

We all are going to beat this.......keep faith!!!!

{edit} I have to night sweats last night and hadn't had them in a bit. I wonder if it's the no booze thing.....could be! My drinking has been heavier that it has been the last couple weeks and I didn't have any. We will get to the bottom of this sweating nonsense!!!! ;)

Ah yes, I sure do. Yesterday, was one of those days where "drinking time" came and went and I didn't even notice the time had passed. Yes, yesterday was an unplanned AF day (complete with 3 different sweating sessions - Note to the "sweat-hogs").

It's been an interesting week starting with heavy drinking and ending up with a dislike for the stuff and having AF days. I no longer wonder if Naltrexone is having a long lasting effect. It is beyond doubt now. It's effects are unpredictable on any particular day, but the general alcohol intake trend is obviously down. My behaviors are changed with little or no effort. It's truly an impressive medication.

I do have a question which I suppose I should post separately, but I'll see what response I get here...

Would TSM treatment be disturbed by taking, lets say, a week off AF???

Bob

SR and Potato both take weeks off of Al and it seems to work fine for them. I wonder about the nausea however. Seems to me it would be like starting all over. That part I just don't get!@

You might view it this way: If you were to take a week off, your drinking levels would certainly be within safe limits; i.e. you would be CURED!!! Then after that you simply would require folowup by following the Golden Rule: Always take your nal one hour before you drink.

I had to think about your statement for a day, before I posted anything. Could I actually be cured? We have become conditioned by these seemingly endless weeks of "It's just around the corner". And I guess amazingly, we do eventually reach the corner.

Yesterday was another AF day for me... I think it's the 4th consecutive one. The afternoon came and went and the dreaded beast never materialized. I had a brief thought when I got back from work today of maybe having the 2 remaining beers in the fridge, but I really don't feel like it. So, I'm not. I'll see how long this goes on.

One odd thing occurred last night. I woke up at 4:20AM with the sweats! Very heavy. Now give me a break, I haven't had any alcohol since Thursday and consequently no Naltrexone, so why am I having sweats? I haven't changed my other meds for weeks now, so it can't be them. And the previous two nights I didn't have any problems. It's a real puzzle. :?

Bob
