I never really thought about it but, I think what you will find in a binge drinker is 1) Someone who is definitely genetically hard coded to be an alcoholic and, 2) One who drinks so much in one sitting that if continued would likely die if they kept going. Hence, the binge. 3) Lastly, I know in my case I was one who truly did not want to drink this way but, when stopped the Alcohol Deprivation Effect (ADE see TAC by Roy Eskapa) would kick in and drinking would come back with a venegence. I like the analogy of, to not drink is like trying to hold one's breath. See how long you can do it. I held my breath for 12 years once.

CFA, maybe this isn't the appropriate place for this, but why are you even with this guy? (I thought you were married to him and couldn't end it). He has no job, gets food from a food bank, lies all the time, and is a binge-drinking knuckelhead. From your self-description, he's way less educated and interesting than yourself.
