God I hope Nal doesn't extinguish my sense of humor............

Interesting thread where Escapa makes a couple of points concerning moderation:

Haha from my take all41 I cannot make heads or tails from what DrRoyEskapa says. I know we need to take Nal+Drink but not sure of anything else cause he doesn't respond.

From the good Dr. in that post: "Use willpower to moderate by all means - IF you can."

My experience in my 10th week is Nal finally allows me to use willpower fairly effectively when drinking. I take Nal, I drink, and I can pretty much stop. I could drink more, and sometimes I want to, but I also want to keep my drink count down and the science of Nal helps me do this. I'm not white knuckled with craving, I'd drink if I felt this way like I always have. Rather, it has almost become automatic. If I can just put 15 minutes or so between the first drink or two and the next, something happens and I can usually leave it alone. Hec, it is still way early in this adventure, but man is this encouraging. Strange, but encouraging.

Science!

I think what you're saying there Triplab is right on the money. I had teacher/parent conferences last night so wanted to be AF. Could have taken Nal and started drinking when the meetings were ove, but made a decision not to. Yea I was craving, but it passed and I went to bed, and today I feel good about it. That kind of moderation I need to (re) learn, and with Nal it should only get better with time.

Although Escapa briefly discusses replacing bad behavior with good, I think there is a lot more that could be said. Addictions are physical and psychological and the emphasis of the book is clearly on the physical. I understand why and certainly agree with that emphasis, he's trying to spread the word about TSM, but I hope he fleshes out how to use Nal and TSM to effectively work through the psychological side of things in a future edition.

Thanks triplab I think I will really try and incorporate this into my drinking, this sounds like a good stepping stone and I will see how it works for me. I agree it is early on with TSM with me too and a what a journey for all of us. I hope we all graduate by at least sometime next year and have our names added to the Cured list!!!!
Nal on!!!!

Week 3 went OK, my consumption pretty much the same as week two, and 1 AF day. I worked out Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and I'm sleeping better. I'm damn glad I have my wife supporting me through this, and glad that my kids are aware of what I'm doing.

Thanksgiving was fine, just some social drinking and then quit early, but my cravings in general appear to be increasing back to full throttle which is disconcerting, but I guess that's my addiction fighting back. I can deal with that.

The 50 mg nal has come to seem normal, so for anyone afraid of a full dose I'd say try it for a couple of weeks. Your body seems to grow accustomed to it pretty quickly.
