Starting to thinking I should cut my dosage in half - seemed to work early on for me and did not have the same level of fatigue. I know 50mg is suggested amount - wondering if anyone has had any success on 25mg. My goal is to moderate drinking not abstain completely. The way it is going now I can't see me continuing to drink. 6 beers on a night out and I'm wiped out the next day - even after sleeping 10 hours. 25 mg - worth trying?

Taper your alcohol? How are your cravings?

Try it out. IMHO, people try too hard to "drink as you normally would."

I feel really tired too if I drank 6 drinks.

In the beginning, I had social drinking as a goal. Now, I think my goal is indifference to alcohol.

Can you drink less and see what happens? Maybe as extinction increases you will drink less, want to drink less and not be tired.

Good luck!

Seems to be common. That was me for sure.

In long-term studies, many people have changed their TSM goal from moderate drinking to abstinence or near-abstinence once the addiction was broken and abstinence seemed doable.

I agree with those who've said that six beers is on the heavy side for a night out. It depends on the subculture -- it would be normal for a student at a hard-partying college, for instance -- but it's not how most people live their lives.

My guess is that the extinction hasn't finished yet. You totally should be wiped after a six-drink night out! Over time, as addiction extinction proceeds, this negative feedback should teach you not only to drink less but to want less.

That said, I personally found that 25mg was enough at first, and I strongly suspect that it would be enough again since I'm taking it so seldom now. 50mg was not overkill when I was taking it more often, though. 25mg is often fine at first, but apparently we develop some tolerance to nal and then require a higher dose than we did in the early days.

It wouldn't kill you to try one or two days on 25mg, I guess. You'd just have to be alert for higher consumption or for enjoying it a bit too much.

You're right about the 6 drink nite out being on the high side - just not in crowd I run with - at least the guys. Probably part of the problem :D Back in my college days that was just the warm up. 6 beers for a woman I think would be a lot though. Smaller and lower tolerances.

Little tougher on me this week - on vacation. Did have at least one A/F this week.

Congrats on your progress Palerider , if I could stop after 6 drinks on a night out , I would be thrilled . 6 drinks is not a lot if its not every night but on a weekend night !! I don't see the problem , maybe after a while you wont feel as tired . All the best .

*snerk* My husband jokes that he'd use me as a ringer in a drinking contest. Nobody expects the little middle-aged housewife to put away 15.
