at 80's baby-

i feel for you. hang in there.
6-12 months seems both a long time and not a long time at all. think about it.
are you tracking your numbers? maybe that would help so you can see the progress and place the binges within a greater context of overall improvement.

Thanks ready,

I haven't been tracking, but I have seen an overall reduction. I wrote my last blurb in an intense funk after drinking. I then read "the cure" for a while and felt a bit better.

I know it's a long process, and I am an impatient person. I'm going to keep reading the board to try to get inspiration to keep trucking!

Am having my first AF night in weeks.. months??? Feel great. I have a big meeting tomorrow, and would usually be drinking to relax. Instead I'm happily reviewing my notes and getting ready for bed.

The big test will come tomorrow afternoon once the meeting is done. I'm hoping to go two in a row.

Wish me luck

The fact you are going AF without effort when you'd normally be drinking is proof TSM is working!

Don't be too bummed if you are triggered to drink tomorrow as you are still very early in the process. Remember the formula: Naltrexone + drinking + patience = Regained Control/cure.

My best,

Nick

I think this may be working!!!

I had a work function last night, took my nal before and had two glasses of wine. On the way home, felt myself really wanting more booze, but decided to just go home and go to bed.

Today was a day long meeting where I had to really "prove myself". At the end both my boss and her boss complimented me on a job well done. Usually I would be pouring myself a giant glass of wine to celebrate but...

NO CRAVING!!!!

I feel wonderful. It's great when the rollercoaster is at the top. :D

You are definitely on your way! Congratulations! And if my theory is correct, since you are so young and haven't been drinking alcoholically for very long, extinction will probably occur at 3 months or so -- just like the college kids and their 35 per week habit contained in the book (and the studies)! :D

@ 80's baby
that's what i am talking about!!!!!!!!!!!
the fact that you went AF the other day is a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge step. remember that if you find yourself on the bottom of the roller coaster again.
nice job. in fact i am a bit envious ;) - still no AF days for me (although just put together two days of 3 and 4 drinks which is new for me)

Well done 80's baby

I am a 60's baby so the process is bound to be longer. I still believe TSM is the best thing that i have come across in a very long time and am very optimistic that it will enable me to be a moderate drinker in another few months. (i'm at 16 weeks.)
Keep up the good work and I look forward to following your progress.

Cheers

Hey all,

I'm going to Europe for the next week for vacation with two of my best friends. Nal is the first thing going in my suitcase. Vacation is typically a trigger for me, so I will definitely try to moderate myself. Nal + effort right? Won't be on the board for a while likely (my friend's don't yet know about nal and would harass me prob) Please keep me in your prayers and good thoughts.

I will try to dilligently track my numbers while in Europe, is there a different unit system over there?

You are still early in the process so effort should be minimal at this point. Use minimal effort to cut back in your amounts but not frequency: drink through your triggers.

Good luck!

My best,

Nick
