Dear wort,

Just want to encourage you and to say I'm thankful you are sharing your experience with others....I hope I am understanding your postings properly:
at the bottom of your post is a list of numbers....are these current numbers for your units of drinking?
And as I have read elsewhere, are they per week?

I have read in a German website (all in German and it's a person's personal blog) someone in Germany had a very similar experience to yours and is now experiencing very low levels/units per week (6 units last count) after over a year and a half of the method. So I really believe that some may take longer but success will be yours if you stick with it.
It may have something to do with age, history, etc but it may also be influenced by core beliefs about ourselves. The German person wrote a lot about having to confront attitudes, personal and cultural. (Something I think traditional 12 step programs tend to reinforce, mostly by accident, but also inherently by design. It's a "set up" in a way.)

Anyway, just want to encourage you and say thanks so much!
Keep "sailin'...." !!! Paradise is out there!

pyrata

wort - I was skimming your posts and must've accidently skipped pg 2! LOL Did not read the last pg about trying BAC. I am still here - have not ordered BAC yet as am still on the fence about going on my own or thru my doc. Plus money is tight, have been distracted, etc...

Mostly just still reading & thinking about it. If BAC works, it's a lifelong thing. But then, so is NAL. BAC does not seem to have any serious SE after long-term use, but no one really knows. How much time do we have left anyway, drinking at this rate, I ask?!

Anyway - here I am & alls pretty much well!
XO

Pyrata and HouTx,

Thanks for the encouragement! I'll get to the promised land one way or the other.

pyrata: yes, the numbers are weekly units. I do believe it has everything to do with previous history, and perhaps a bit of genetics as well.

houtx: I am so glad you continue to post here. So many of the folks that decide to switch to Bac decide also to switch to the Other Site. I know you advocate a longer TSM period, and honestly I do too. I just don't see what harm adding bac will do as long as I don't stop drinking completely. It will be intersting to see what my GP will do; I'm guessing that he will not feel good about prescribing enough bac for the Ameisen high dosage approach. No worries - that's why God created AllDayChemist. I intend to find my switch, titrate back down, and then to try to maintain a very moderate level with 2-3 AF days per week.

-wort
