I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's DUI - that is really terrible. Is this creating any tension between you guys?
As for paintball....I don't know if you've ever done it...but OUCH!!!!! It really hurts!
I think you're doing really well considering the triggers that you are working through right now. If I had a skiing weekend I'm pretty sure it would be boozy too ;)

Hi Sticky!!

How ironic that your hubby can be so judgemental of your drinking and he got nabbed for drunk driving!

I am wondering if the DIC consequences are just as costly in New Zealand as they are here in the states?

Glad it wasn't you kitten! You'd probably never be able to live that down!

Congratulations on your steady, albeit slow, decrease in unit intake.

Best,

Ketchikan1

DUI's are no fun. Expensive, hard to defend against. Horrible. But from reading your posts, I think your hubby will be a little less judgmental now that he is carrying the stigma. Hope all else is well in NZ!!!

Thanks EL, Ketch and Heavy Fuel

DUI's aren't quite so serious in NZ. I have had 3. After no. 2 I was threatened with jail but got community service. Hubby said he thought he had a clean record but he had a DUI around 35 years ago and that still counts. No, it isn't causing any tension. He isn't too bothered - just sees it as a nuisance and he will have to apply and pay for a day licence for work. He does drink too much and drive sometimes but he is not an alcoholic. He did have this coming though!!

Better go and watch the haka and All Blacks vs France.

P.S. Got a paintball in the butt while doing up my shoelaces!

Cheers

Hi Sticky, you'd be pretty happy this morning no doubt, given the All Blacks form. I can certainly sympathise with your husband. I wish I could apply for a day licence, that would make things a lot easier for me  Hope that works out ok. Sorry I haven't been around the board as often, I have been trying to get on once a week or so but I seem to be getting distracted by other things. Are you still drinking at home or only when you go out with friends etc? Maybe, if you are, you could try to cut that out/cut that back and only drink when you're socialising. Hope you have a great week.

Man, you guys THRASHED us. I'm glad France at least got a couple of tries. But what can you do after such a fierce hakka ;)

Hi everyone

I'm happy to report that on my last night out with the girls from Thailand we had no shots! Two of us had sworn off them and the one who ordered them last time couldn't make it, so it's not like I had to be really strong about it. I did drink too much though and was sick later - not great....I often still find myself drinking alcoholically - taking sips from hubby's drink when he's not looking, taking a drink down to bed and hiding it under the bed while reading as hubby told me not to do it, etc.

In 3 weeks or so I'll need to go to a doc I haven't met before to get a special authority for a script for nal. So I updated my graph and it is positive - a decrease overall, albeit SLOW! Will maybe post that on here tomorrow if I get around to it.

All this rugby has been conducive to drinking, with friends over to watch the games who don't have Sky TV. Also our eldest turned 13 on Monday so we had an extended family dinner on Thurs then all went to watch him perform a main part in a school production. He did so well. It's quite a milestone having my baby become a teenager. And scary. At least he's not grunting yet!

Having friends over to watch rugby soon. I've taken more of an interest in it since we are hosting the World Cup. Quite an honour for our wee country. I hope the trains and buses can cope tonight.

Will post units next...
Take care everyone

Cheers

Hi again

Warren, I just saw your post. No need to apologise about not being here so often. I've been a bit slack myself. Too much socialising!

Yes I do still drink at home sometimes. Often we have had people over though, so that is social. In fact it has been a very social time. Perhaps it will quieten down a bit, but with the World Cup and Xmas coming, perhaps not!! One of my weaknesses used to be drinking alone when hubby was out, but that hasn't happened lately. I need to avoid that.

Thanks for your support as always and everyone elses.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend all of you...

Cheers

Sticky, I hear you on the World cup being a big drink-a-thon! Last night I watched Tonga demolish France (we are playing like **** this year) and England barely beat Scotland and I probably had about 7 drinks - too much. But the worst part is that everything here is SO :LATE - the England-Scotland game STARTED at 3:30am. So I am brutally tired today, even if not really too hungover. Anyways, I suspect that for both of us things will be a bit quieter after the World Cup. I hope NZ wins btw - you guys are awesome AND the hosts, so it would be fitting. I just hope France beats England at least!

Hi EL (and everyone)

Thanks for your vote of confidence for the All Blacks. It's great for us to be able to watch a world sporting event at civilised times of the day - it's usually the middle of the night for us.

Had 3 nights of 8 drinks - not a good start to my week. Last night was going to be good, but 2 rugby games and rugby League, which we did well to make it to the grand final of. Stuck to beer & had 3. Went to bed early so feel OK today. 2AFs hopefully then dinner with a girlfriend with a long drive home on Wed will probably mean 30 drinks this week - up there again.

Nal on everyone.
Cheers
