hi l00p,

have you been taking Baclofen 4 times a day? If so how does 4 times a day work?

I do understand how 3 times a day works (morning, lunch, dinner) - but how does the timing for 4 times a day work?

I take it twice a day. 100mg at like 1pm and 100mg at like 3pm. It works for me.

My entire experience with baclofen was unconventional from the beginning.

It's supposed to be a muscle relaxant - you haven't experienced any negatives in the gym?? What dose did you start with and at what increases did you go to to get @ 200mg/day? Did you find the use of BAC to be the trick in ending your cravings for AL?

Quite the contrary Houston! Check this thread out: http://www.thesinclairmethod.net/community/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1125&sid=9930a77fe3bb84f5e226dc6a2bbc0de9

I'm kicking myself in the head for not keeping more accurate track and not taking before pics. Since Dec 1st I've lost an estimated 10-15 lbs of body fat which is about 6-8% body fat for me. The startling thing is this: On Dec 1st I weighed 170 lbs. Today I weigh 170 lbs. The difference is muscle. I've lost 4.5 inches off my waist and my abs are just now starting to poke out. My arms are bigger than they ever have been. The difference in the mirror is downright f*ing shocking!

These are just guesstimates but I assure you I am a pro at body composition calculations. I used to do them meticulously until I got so good at them that I didn't need to do them anymore. Just like weighing my food. My scale just gathers dust these days. Gimme a knife and I can cut you a piece of raw top sirloin that is 170 grams +- 3 grams all day long.

Do not try this at home:

Day 1: 150mgs
Day 2: 250mgs

Yup, that did the trick. :D

If I told you you could get ripped eating 6 meals a day like this:
Image

What would you say?

Meal #5 non-training day:
105g barbecued lemon pepper salmon
55g shrimp
sauteed broccoli, red and green bells, garlic and red cabbage seasoned with soy sauce and splenda (mmmmm.... :D )

Macronutrient breakdown:
Protein: 38g
Fat: 14g (high in omega 3's)
Carbs: (negligible)

Almost finished:

Probably ready to start it up tomorrow or the next day...wish me luck!!

LoOp, you're awesome! Love the dinner plate - that's my kind of meal fo sho! I checked out your thread on MWO but didn't get very far what with checking out some of the links along the way.

Still very curious and many questions about BAC. Thinking that is what I am faced with next. It's been a year on TSM and I am just not where most are w/ TSM. My willpower is great on every front but this. Why? I have no clue - I have used my mind to conquer so many things: smoking, diet/weight/exercise, etc. Can't or won't let go of my AL addiction. And my friends who I have told, are saying "We have noticed a difference"!! ehhhh - I question that. I never fell down drunk or acted stupid or went off on anyone...maybe/MAYBE I am better in some ways...

Anyway - your workouts interest me especially taking massive quantities of this major muscle relaxant!! You haven't had any SE at all?? Hmmmmm- and does one ever go off BAC?? and how does that work??

Love your intensity! (P>S> I am up late coming home from the theatuh)

I don't think willpower has much to do with it when someone is as addicted as I was. I've got a will of iron. My stationary bike broke the other day, so I tore it apart, found a broken belt, drove to the hardware store, came back, put it in and finished my cardio session. I've missed one cardio session since Dec 1st and that was Christmas day. I am a stubborn SOB (Taurus).

I get sleepy, but Bac definitely doesn't help me sleep. I wake up every hour or two at night and lately have been lucky to get 4-5 hours. I've never noticed ANYTHING even remotely resembling a muscle relaxant type of effect from the baclofen.

The stuff I talk about in that other thread is real and undeniable. It's primary effect seems to be that it keeps you from getting exhausted. It seems to increase my exhaustion threshold by about 50% (that's HUGE  ).

I'm planning on lowering my dose of Baclofen when TSM has fully kicked in. I hope this works anyway...

Hey lo0p, can you elaborate on the above. I'm interested in it because I've had insomnia for a long time, and think it's probably one of the reasons I started drinking so much in the first place. I had been wondering whether having a small amount of BAC would be useful to help me sleep, and had been considering getting a prescription for it. Is the baclofen actually making it more difficult for you to sleep, or is it the reduction in drinking caused by the baclofen that makes it more difficult to sleep (i.e. could baclofen help a "cured" person sleep?)

Baclofen is making me sleepy - but only on increase of the dose. If you stay on the same dose you won't find any long term sleeping effect.

I feel in general more relaxed on Baclofen - but this relaxed is not related to muscles "muscles" - it is just the sensation as nothing really bothers me.

For me it's definitely the Baclofen. I don't sleep well even when I drink. I seem to have reacted to it quite differently than most people in this regard. It seems to make everyone else 'sleep like a baby.'

edit: If I do something where I'm basically immobile during the evenings (TV, computer) sometimes I have tendency to nod off, but I'll always wake up at least every two hours while sleeping. If I'm doing something active, it makes me more energetic I think...bizarre.

You are a good person with a bad illness. Addiction has nothing to do with willpower. Getting off smoking and exercising/loosing weight are piece of cake compared to the addiction alcohol creates. I have succeeded on both (non-smoker since 3 years and lost 20 kg the last 6 months), and I have been highly successful reaching more than the majority of people reach in their full lives in my 20s. Still it is impossible for me to conquer my addiction with my willpower.

You will feel a lot better when you consider alcohol as a serious illness that is going to kill you - instead of following the stupid mind of some people (even some idiotic doctors) that addiction has anything to do with willpower or a weakness in character.

It is a real illness and even is classified officially as illness (in comparison smoking is not classified as illness (insurance does not pay for therapy) ).

+1 to what craving said.

So I f*ed up. Baaaaad.

I got all worked up thinking about Jess and couldn't stand it anymore. I wanted to kill someone yesterday I was so angry, and just profoundly sad. This is a bad trigger for me. So I caved. I had 2 huge bowls of Fiber One raisin bran...at 11pm no less. I just couldn't control myself, I would have eaten the whole box if I hadn't run out of milk!.

I woke up this morning feeling guilty as hell and wanting to kick myself in the head for what I did. All day long. I set myself back like 1000kcals, basically one whole day. I was fuming pissed! Then I remembered that it was time to do my weekly update (well, in 3 hours).

Image

Talk about losing sight of what's important...lol  I'm lucky I'm alive. Alcohol is so far from my mind right now. It not only doesn't control what I do, think, or feel anymore...I'm just not even spending any energy at all trying to not drink! I don't even think about it anymore.

I've gotten into a daily habit of taking 200mgs of baclofen once at 2pm and I've got my naltrexone if I want to drink. Soon though, when I'm done with my protocol (Feb-Marchish) I'm gonna back off the baclofen to see where I'm at. I'm definitely not looking forward to it though.
