Thanks Saint Vincent,

As far as hubby is concerned, Im just glad he is in hosp and they can get him right. He is not happy though, we asked for a private room as per our insurance plan but they didnt have one and he is in a ward with three others. He will get over it, they wont bite him. I know he will be bored senseless, they woke him at 6.30 this morning and he is wondering how he is going to spend the whole day in bed. Today is Friday and I have a feeing they will keep hom over the weekend but I havent said anything to him yet. I think Ill let the nurses break that piece of news to him :)

Mario, If there is a silver lining here it has to be that this much stress in your life would probably have sent you on a binge in the past and thanks to NAL you are able to deal with these things and not add the complication of excessive drinking. Your neighbor's story is very moving. I feel for her 4 boys. She must be in a very dark place. She sounds hell bent on drinking herself to death. I hope that your neighbor comes to her senses and that the doctor's figure out what's ailing your husband. Take care.

You're a good person Mario. That's going above and beyond the call of duty for these friends. If there is a heaven, I think this type of stuff would be a backstage pass. I hope your hubby is going to be ok. No doubt he has a wonderful supporting wife. Just keep it up. You've tried to show someone TSM, ut some people are afraid to even admit they have a problem. I don't understand it either. my sis is not taking good care of her son or herself and won't admit to anything. You can lead a horse to water I guess...

Hi Mario
Great stuff you seem to be dealing with a whole load of potential stressors- well done. I was struck by your story about your neighbour- it does seem so hard to believe that you offer someone this gift and they dont try it. I've been contemplating telling an old friend who has really developed a problem- her husband is very worried about her but she doesn't acknowledge it.
Anyway great to hear you are doing sowell and hope all is well with hubby.

That story is really tragic. I am always amazed by how blinded some people can be even despite the damage and pain they cause. Maybe someday she will reach out but it sounds like she's not ready, for whatever reason. I hope your hubby is ok!!! Keep us posted. Btdt

Getting worried about hubby. He has a new consultant who is dubious that he ever had polymyalgia at all and that the tratment, steroids just hid the origional problem. He had an inflamation test done yesterday and normal results are 5 but his was 94.She said there is nothing nasty to worry about right now but she couldnt rule anything out, so of course we or at least I think the worst. Hubby is not one for worrying unless he is sure he needs to. He has lost lots of weight and has black circles under his eyes. He is sweating at any activity at all even just going to the bathroom. He is on the higest dose of steroids which keeps him pain free but they are now going to reduce them to see just what he is like without meds.

He is in much better form though, I brought him in the laptop and rented movies and a few more books so at least he has something to do. I came on the internet to check what high inflamation scores mean and should have stayed well away. All you take in is the worst case scenerio.

Its been a while since I posted. Hubby is home from hosp but is only marginally better than when he went in. We are still waiting on some test results.

Nal has been working at rougly the same pace since I posted last. Basically I drink Friday Sat and Sunday. Still drink too much on occasion but the benifits of nal are still obvious. I rarely get close to being drunk, no blackouts or foolish behaviour, no mysterious bumbs or bruises. To a large extent, though Im not cured, alcohlol has pretty much ceased to be a big issue in my life. Some old dirty habits are almost completly gone such as coming home from an event and wanting to continue to drink at home. Im getting a disgust of different drinks at different times. Right now its wine, the very thought of it disgusts me to the point where I have to hide it in the fridge. I had a glass of wine before I went to visit hubby on Friday night and was really looking forward to having some more when I got home yet when I poured one after getting in It took me all in my power to stop myself being ill at the sight and smell of it. I had other alcohol in the house but nothing that appealed to me so I just had nothing more.

Im presuming this is all those highways that alcoholism had built are narrowing and becoming little tracks. All in all Im pretty pleased with nal and tsm.

Glad the TSM is helping you through all the crap you're having to go through Mario. IT does appear that for a lot of us, even though we're not cured we are seeing results from TSM. I just hope we get there.
