Well: IT HAPPENED!!!!!

I am sooooooooooooo excited to report that what I had hoped would happen- DID!

I worked 10.5 hours at the restaurant yesterday, a girl called in so I stepped up. Then Ripley and I walked to the liquor store. I bought a 1.5 litre of pinot grigio. This is the first wine I've had in probably a week. I have switched to micro brew. Out of my comfort zone as Nick will attest.

And it happened. I was sipping my 5th unit and the taste, texture, temperature of the wine absolutely made me cringe!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

I knew that this would occur. I just didn't know when! This is the moment I have been praying for. Total aversion. I'll even welcome healthy disgust for a substance that once had me stumbling, falling, crawling, dying.....

I ended up drinking 5 and 3/4's last night. I poured the remaining portion of wine back into that obnoxiously big bottle.

Now what, I wonder....

I'll keep you posted,

Ketchikan1

Oh yeah! I can hear the publicity tour already.

It will only get better for you from here on out. :D

And stay out of your comfort zone. It's easy to get cocky on TSM. Don't.

Good stuff ketch, a mini-breakthrough of sorts. Looks like it's time to move down to the 750ml training bottles of wine. There's no telling what you heights you can soar to without the alcohol anchor weighing you down.

Thanks all for your responses.

What a twisting, turning road!! I was doing pretty well and I was so excited about having aversion towards wine for the very first time. Then a couple nights ago I turn around and drink a **** ton of STRONG, micro-brew (10) and I hardly get a buzz. So what do I do? Last night I buy a smaller bottle of white wine (that was good advice St. Vin), red wine and beer. I polished off the white wine and beer. That's 10 units. And I cracked open the red wine and then blacked out.

Then this morning. I could not quiet my craving, so at 5:00 am I poured and drank red wine and tipsilly went off to work. I had 2 1/2 units.

AAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH.

It is only my unpredictability that is predictable.

I haven't had drinks in the morning for quite some time. But I don't see this as backsliding. It's just a part of my journey. It surprised me is all.

I was reading TiM's thread and his panic and desperation is palpable. I was that way when I started. I was ravaged and bloodied. I had real wounds from having fought a war waged against the alcoholic in me. Naltrexone is the atomic bomb that will, in time, blow my alcoholism to bits. And I cannot wait!!!!!!!!!

I am in my fourth month. It has flown by. But I know now that I have a ways to go.

Even when TSM absolutely works for me, no matter what date the calendar reads-- I will NEVER be cocky, Nick! That's not my nature. And I have a healthy respect for this dis-ease that we all seemingly share. My alcoholism has put me throught the ringer. It still is.

I have to blow into this little device everytime I want to turn my car ignition switch. Man, if that doesn't humble a person, I don't know what would. I mean, I am going to have to park in the far parking spaces so as not to be seen blowing into that thing. Criminy!

Still paying for that damn DUI which occured in April 2010!

Anyway, the struggle continues. So I cannot escape my alcoholism really. But I will continue in this treatment come hell or high water. For me there is no other way but through. Hope you all are well!

I'm gonna go get beer now,

Ketchikan1

Hi Ketch,

When I read that you drank some wine in the morning, I felt really sad and concerned. Come on girl. Show this MF that you're the boss.

You know that 15 + units will make you black out - and we all know that's not a good place to be.

I wish I could offer more than words, I'll record a video if it helps. Come on - fight this MF.

Wishing you all the best and a great big hug from England.

Take care, Andy x

Ketch,

I have had so many of those "Hair of the Dog" mornings, I do not even want to think about it. While I am sure that you are very dissappointed, you have the right attitude and are determined to regain your control over this run away freight train.

And I know you will.

Keep up the fight.
