Good to hear from you .... I am at about 10 months and like you, have no desire to have a drink - sometimes I wish I DID want one... but cannot force it! Did you ever find anything to replace it with - you mentioned meditating? And when you DO try to have a drink - are you NOT taking a Nal? And if not, why not?

I am confused about you mentioning the 20%. In the book, it says that 20% of folk are not helped by Nal - I didn't think it said that 3 years down the road that 20% still weren't drinking ..... but I could be wrong.

Hugs, Maggie

I pretty much had a complete lifestyle change. I lift, eat healthy, meditate, etc. In the best shape of my life.

As you could guess from my username, I don't tolerate NAL well. My first post here was a warning that you can hallucinate on NAL, as I did. I did gain some tolerance to the side effects, but even then, I'd still get huge nal-overs. At this point, I'd probably hallucinate again.

The book is to promote TSM, which I support. For that stat you have to go back to the study by Dr Sinclair. Note that even at 20% after 3 years is still better than existing methods. IMHO, long term success also depends on a lifestyle change, not hanging our in bars etc.

I occasionally mind not having a drug, but I'm getting used to it.

I'd thought it was 30% that plain quit drinking on Nal, maybe only 20% a few years out? Still, if the others are maintaining low-risk drinking limits, that qualifies in my book.

Very glad you're keeping things under control by whatever means! There are some that use an ultra low dose of Nal (1-5mg) and manage that way, don't know if that would still give you problems. So odd about the hallucinations, did you ever dig up why that happens?

Oh I know why, NAL is an opiate receptor blocker. I went through opiate withdrawal. Google the list of symptoms, I had most of them, though briefly. I guess I have high levels of naturally occurring opiates, and my brain did not like going cold Turkeyh.

Wouldn't have seen that one coming.

Your link doesn't seem to work, could give it another shot?

Nothing much to report. Have had a few drinks, no NAL. I still don't have the attraction to alcohol I once had.

I hope this finds everyone well.
