Hi Tambo,
I am looking at both your unit tracking and anecdotal list of progress. These are great changes. Nothing happens quickly but definitely life is getting better and better for you. Stick with it and those final four items are going to move to the never list. Women rarely hit on the drunk guy...so look forward to your "sex appeal" to just keep on growing!

I rang in the new year dancing at a club with friends. Included in the price of admission was unlimited free alcohol all night long. Guess what. I had two whole drinks while at the club. Before TSM, I would have probably been in a blackout within 15 minutes of entering the club, made a fool of myself and then gotten kicked out. I had so much fun and the best part is... I remember everything! What a great way to start off the new year.

I really really like the pros and cons list you put together for week 13-since mine would be so similar I won't steal it yet ;)
Seems like things keep getting better and better, eh? I haven't yet had to confront the dreaded "open bar" challenge (I'm a sucker for a deal  ) but it seems like you conquered it with class, and more important had a really fun social evening out with your friends. That's what moderate drinking is SUPPOSED to be about. Bravo!

Tambo- well done on your progress, its really inspiring to see you doing so well. I loved the week 13 list that you made, might have to steal that idea! It was a reminder that while its important to track the magic numbers, its equally, if not more important to take stock of the subtle behaviour changes that are slowly transforming our lives. Wishing you continued success for the New Year.

Amazing progress, Tambo! I can't believe you had two drinks on New Years, that is awesome! I also love your pros and cons. The subtle changes are just as important as the numbers!

Thanks everyone for all your supportive comments.

Now for my weekly update... Finished my 14th week with 27 units and 4 AF days. That's more units than I'd like, but still not a horrible number for me. I'm going to try to drink less than 45 units total in the next two weeks so that my 4 week total is less than the prior 4 week total. I feel that's definitely doable now that the holidays are over.

Last night I had sushi with a friend and drank sake. When I got home I was almost able to not continue drinking, but I succumbed to the craving and drank 5 more units by myself. I know it's subtle, but I feel like I'm almost there in terms of not drinking when I get home after drinking when I'm out. I'm just going to give it more time. I know it will happen.

Totally off topic, but I've been missing my ex-girlfriend like crazy. We've agreed on no contact for a while so I haven't spoken to her in a month and a half, which I definitely think is the best policy right now. We both have a lot of healing to do. Sometimes I drink because I miss her so much, but thank god for nal or else I'd be drinking about 3 times as much as I do now.

I'm still hopeful that after I'm "cured" we can reconcile, because alcohol is the reason we broke up. I know I shouldn't hold on to that hope and just move on and focus on myself for now, but doing is much harder than knowing.

Hey Tambo - Great progress. I'm a few months behind you and can't even imagine one AF day at this point. I appreciate your posts as they keep me going.

Half
