Thanks Sticky. I hope you enjoy your vacation!! Look forward to hearing about it when you get back.

Inspired. I know many folks are able to go the social drinking route but I've never been that social  . Good luck thru the holidays!!

So far this week I'm at 0 units and 4 AF days in a row!! I was planning to try abstinence starting Christmas Day but the 3 days before I really wasn't interested. The wildest part is that it's been easy to do!! That may change after the holidays but I feel great (although a bit tired because the kids woke us up at 6 am to open presents). Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!!

BTDT

So I went 7 straight days without drinking alcohol, didn't miss it at all. Took Nal today just in case, drank water. Then after dinner decided to have wine. Had 2 small glasses and switched to coffee and then water.

I think my thing is how I start is how I finish so 1) don't drink everyday and 2) drink water for awhile first and MAYBE change to alcohol, maybe.

Merry Christmas, hope others had success too!

Hi guys,

So week 18 was not only successful but remarkably easy!!! This week I had 0 drinks and 7 AF days. I expected that taking multiple AF days would be difficult but the more AF days I take the less I have any interest in drinking or taking NAL. Even tonight, I could've had a drink and would've been willing to concede if I was interested but when I thought about it - I genuinely didn't want to. Maybe my 4 months of heavy drinking is starting to pay off and all I needed was a few AF days in a row to feel the benefits of TSM. Anyways, I'm cautiously optimistic.

I'm thinking New Years Eve might be a good time to have a drink, if I'm so inclined. I'll let you know how that goes but I'm very happily abstinent this week :D BTDT

Cool, really glad it went well for you. I myself was not even remotely successful. What did I really expect? Ha. Ah well.

Well done!

BTDT glad to see the excellent progress. have you though about applying a trend line to your graph? You have enough data points and it'd be interesting to see the spikes and valleys smoothed into a nice descending curve (now that's what I call progress!). You must feel really good about things :P

Hi BTDT,

I know what you mean, the more AF days in a row the better I feel. I did drink last night and overindulged but tonight only had 2 glasses of wine.

I plan to take it easy for the next few days and then will be doing a cleanse and a month of AF days in January which hopefully will lead to success in the end!

Blessings!

Hi all,

Week 19 went pretty well. I decided to have some drinks on New Years Eve which led to drinking two other days this week for a total of 24 drinks and 4 AF days. I'm finding that I'm enjoying my drinking days less and less and preferring not drinking at all. I still don't really have the ability to limit the number of drinks but I do great if I have none!!! Today is my birthday and I think I'll give myself an AF week!!!

Wow, BTDT - great progress!! I feel the same way you do - still more units than I want when I DO drink, but many more AF days than before result in lower overall units. I am getting to where drinking doesn't sound very good as well. For me, low frustration tolerance is what gets me. After a few days, I start getting irritable and reach for the easy cure.

Way to go ... I love seeing where you are compared with only a few weeks ago! -YG

Hi BTDT

I'm really pleased for you! It sounds like things have gone well lately. Well done. I had a great holiday thanks. Very relaxing. Lots of sleeping, reading, eating & swimming. Also lots of drinking compared with my summer hols for the last 17 years. It has been good to be able to drink socially (not hiding it from hubby). Am still mostly drinking too much when I drink, but not feeling so bad the next day. Also enjoying AF days 3-4 times a week. Will post on my weekly progress.

Sticky
