Yes spacy, edgy all reported but believe me nothing compared to being drunk or to Baclofen!

Groggy?Probably several days in a row of Nal.

I don't feel quite as with it while taking the nal. It was worse in the beginning for me. Keep us posted about how you are doing.

So good to read the posts on this site.
I've been discouraged as I'm three weeks in and still drinking a lot, more than my first week.
I need to be more mindful and stop expecting Nal to "knock the glass out of my hand."
Think some nights i take the Nal, wait the hour and then say to myself "now i can drink whatever i want!"
I stayed up really late last night, 5 am, drinking alone at home. Husband sleeping. Not like me. think it was partly 'cause i only got home at 10p. So only had my first glass at 10p instead of the usual 5 or 6p. Paying for it today with a soul crushing hangover. Going to try for an AF night tonight. Such a waste of my time, health and money. I'm back to tracking. will aim to post weekly. stay the course. thank you

Terez,

It is all part of the extinction, for right now your booze brain is really trying to find that "ha" moment and it is not coming. Mindful drinking is not easy especially when your brain is screaming for more. The funny thing I do is I talk to it like it is a monster inside of me. I have to keep the humor in somewhere, and boy it has been quit for a week now, but next week it might be screaming again.

You are still early in the game, so be patient and let the extinction happen. It helps to notice what habits might be easiest to change, or even asking yourself "do I really want this" and even if you say yes one day it might be no. I know it was scary for me after the honeymoon period, but it all worked out and it will work out for you to. Just keep doing what you are doing and don't give up.

I do hope your husband is doing well in the program as well.

Keep posting,

Jaba

Yes you are really early days, no need to be pushing for anything right now. This process can take 6-12 months.

Hello,
Thanks for the encouragement. I'll stay the course, husband following the golden rule too.
Went to addiction doc last Monday. He said I should take topamax daily to help with craving. I just started that last night (5 nights 25 mg before bed for 5 nights, then 50mg.) Something in me doesn't like popping so many pills but he said he's seen great results with it. I might post topic and c if others have tried it along with TSM. Trying to be more mindful, at least the occasional AF day is creeping into my life. Still heavy drinking mostly though. Forward! Thank you

Terez,

I cannot remember if that is what Maggie was on before she went to Nal. or not, but if it was she will chime in. I am glad you are staying the course, and going to a doctor (I am a big chicken when it comes to drugs) and I do hope it helps. In the end we all want the same goals.

Good Luck to you and your husband,

Jaba
