Did you leave him with information and if so, what was it? Also - do you mind posting your doctor's info in the area of the forum set up for that? If not it's okay, but it might help others in your area.

Thanks!

RV

Yes, I did leave my Dr. some information about Neltrexone, but not The Sinclair Method. I can't find the page I pulled up on Google now, but basically is said that Neltrexone was approved by the FDA for use as an anti-craving med for abstinence from Alcohol. It listed the dose (50mg) and that there were basically no serious interactions with other drugs, etc.

Let me ponder putting up my docs info. I'm kind of in a higher profile job and don't want to draw attention to myself.

My Dr wants me to come back in and check in with him in a month. I intend to photocopy the doctor chapter our of Dr. Eskapa's book and fill him in completely on what I'm doing.

Hi Q -
I need to find the post again from Q how to chart progress in our signatures...I would like to do it personally & am int'd in others. Not real good following instructions to "pull down this/right click that..." but will try as I like the info.
Thanks all - g'nite.

I started a thread in the General Forum on this topic a day or so ago here:

viewtopic.php?f=7&t=32&p=87&hilit=signature#p87

If you have any questions, just post to that thread and I'll respond.

Good luck!

Just remember that HIPAA laws would absolutely prevent your doctor from sharing anything about you at all and that's the only way someone could find out who you are. Your doctor probably has thousands of patients who see him from time to time. Nobody is going to see you in the waiting room and have any idea why you're there. Just something to consider.

On day 4 of The Sinclair Method and feeling great.

First couple days I had no interest at all in alcohol, but drank anyway like we are directed to do. It's strange the difference in effect that alcohol has on me while taking Naltrexone. The intoxication effects are still there, but the "Desire" to drink, keep drinking, isn't. I've also noticed that some of the foods I really like just taste a little different, which makes sense given that these foods probably cause a release in endorphins.

Last night was the first night that, after starting, that I really wanted alcohol. However, after the first drink or two I had to remind myself to go grab another. Finished with 4 total for the night. Again, the real "Desire" I used to have that drove me to drink until I passed out is not there. I feel very good about this.

I started 25mg of Nal for the first couple days, then went to 50mg. First couple days, I was a little spacey after taking the Nal, had some slight stomach upset, and sleeping was off. Last couple nights I popped half a dose of an over the counter sleep aid and slept like a rock.

That feeling will go away and then come back again in a couple or three months.

Also, it is easily possible to "blow through" the naltrexone - that is, have a few drinks that you don't really want, then start wanting more after those few. For me it raised but did not eliminate the "event horizon" from which there is no turning back.

houtx -

Click the "User Control Panel" link in the upper right of your screen. Then choose "Profile" in the menu on the left. Then click "Edit Signature". Voila! (which, in case you didn't know, is French for "see there!")

Not much new to report.
In week three my drinks are still around 10 beers every evening.
The biggest difference is no major issues from drinking and I don't get crazy drunk and do stupid stuff.
My wife even sees a big difference in my preoccupation with alcohol and how I act when I drink.
Its still early and I know the process is not really taking hold yet but I am not the same person when I drink on NAL.
Some time next week I will try to be sure and post again.

I am so glad we have a place to share our experience and appreciate all the posts.
