Thanks, Plantpr0! It sure feels like a miracle to me. :) I still have naysayers "You realize you're still drinking at binge levels?" is the latest criticism in the non-TSM recovery community.

Wow. What a rotten thing to say.

That's a huge change, and it should be celebrated. You should be very proud of yourself.

DSM-V criteria for a substance use disorder:
Quote:
Taking the substance in larger amounts or for longer than the you meant to
Wanting to cut down or stop using the substance but not managing to
Spending a lot of time getting, using, or recovering from use of the substance
Cravings and urges to use the substance
Not managing to do what you should at work, home or school, because of substance use
Continuing to use, even when it causes problems in relationships
Giving up important social, occupational or recreational activities because of substance use
Using substances again and again, even when it puts the you in danger
Continuing to use, even when the you know you have a physical or psychological problem that could have been caused or made worse by the substance
Needing more of the substance to get the effect you want (tolerance)
Development of withdrawal symptoms, which can be relieved by taking more of the substance.

Notice that none of the criteria specify how many drinks one has.

It's on reddit... Yes, I keep going back. People are starting to come around. But there are some who can be jerks about it. I post anyway because there are people who are interested and I think this method needs more attention. And I love Reddit!

Here's my latest thread where you can see a range of responses:

Interesting to see that other people on there have tried naltrexone. To me it is nothing short of miraculous, and has worked absolute wonders.

The vast bulk of people with alcohol problems, consider themselves alcoholics, and the only possible way to get it under control is to quit completely. Almost all treatment programs in this country subscribe to that theory. To suggest an alternative that actually works, is generally frowned upon, and considered idiotic, and the thought is that people using methods like TSM are just fooling themselves.

Of course I, and most on here disagree with that, and I suspect it's going to take a long time to get this better-known, but you're making a great effort.

Keep it up
