It sounds like you're off to a good start, LD! I'm always very happy for the new people here, who have somehow found this obscure treatment that offers so much hope. I'm ALSO glad for the new people, because you remind me of how things were for me pre-TSM, like the "gotta have it" feeling towards alcohol. I admit, I still do drink too much on occasion, but now that 4th beer is NOT a mindless compulsion, but the result of a mental debate: I actually ponder, "do I really want this?" Yes, it's been a LONG time since I had to slap down someone to grab that last beer in the cooler! :P

It seems strange, but I actually like the controlled buzzy feeling I get drinking with nal. I feel more aware of conversations and the world around me in general, plus my memory is better the next day. Looking forward to the future, one nal at a time!

Note to self; don't order mixed drinks at a bar.....Friday night I drank 4 mixed drinks at a sports bar then two more shots when I got home. I'm not sure if they were stronger than one shot of alcohol or not but sure was easy to suck em down when someone else is pouring :o oh well, I still felt in control of myself, though I was well aware of my hubby acting like an ass! Again, memory was better the next day OH but the hangover (I know you warned me) but felt pretty lousy most of the day saturday. Saturday night I drank 6 units of wine, zero side effects other than feeling like I can be done drinking before the bottle of wine is empty...well, the second bottle that is ;-) even at that, the last glass was a cOnscious choice and I like that :D

Hi Lost,
I notice that I feel buzzed much faster when I take Nal. I am a big guy and a couple of beers would never really phase me but now, with Nal, I start feeling that buzzed feeling much sooner. I think the endorphin rush masks the buzz feeling from the alcohol. I used to go from feeling almost nothing through several drinks to blackout without ever being aware of being drunk. Perhaps you are experiencing something similar? Good luck and congratulations on your new found control.

Eric

Maybe I'm more buzzed than I think? I do know I feel more aware and in control of myself with the Nal. I come from a long line of alcoholics though and at 5'3" and 120ish Pounds, I can surprisingly hold my own and then some.....or so I think ;)

I've noticed more of a craving the past couple days, units are creeping up there too though overall I Am down to 43 units the first week from 70units pre TSM. It definitely helps to see progress through keeping track of units!

HoPing for some advice.....my 15 yo son is learning about the effects of alcohol on the body, you know liver problems, cancer etc. Last night my son told me he didn't like me drinking every night and how I was killing myself etc (which are things I know and why I'm taking Nal). It made me sad to hear that he thinks I'm going to get cancer again then die like my parents did (both from cancer). I don't want to justify my drInking or make him think it's okay and I'm not going to tell him I can stop (I clearly cannot) but I feel like in the meantime I'm losing his respect. I down an evening drinker, no violence or neglect in the home. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. I was hoping that my drinking would go unmentioned and with time, the Nal would reduce it to the point it wouldn't be an issue. I'm feeling pretty sad and guilty that I'm letting him down :(

What would it be like if you told him you are working to cut down your drinking, using a medication to do it and that it will take time but you're determined?

Not a bad idea. Only problem is my husband doesn't know about the nal. Though I don't suppose I have to be specific, maybe I will tell him it's a vitamin supplement. Thanks for the advice Tiller, I think that may just ease his mind (and mine) ;)
Vitamin N ;-)
