week 3 report

This week went by pretty well. My numbers are still up, but again that's due to drinking daily. Pre TSM I was drinking up to 40 units weekly but only drinking 3 or 4 days per week, so every session was anywhere from 7- 15 drinks. I now never drink more than 8, and if I do manage to get to 8 it's equivalent to a 15 drink binge, if that makes sense. I just can't seem to get all those extra drinks in, at 8 I am pretty well pissed and am done, weird eh?.

Two big changes in my drinking so far:
I never drink more than 8 drink on a single occasion
I have days where I have no more than 4

So far so good,
K:)

This is real solid evidence that TSM will work for you. :D

Thanks Nick.
I'm not really sure if I should be trying to get AF days in this soon or keep up with the daily consumption. I have struggled for years to get my drinking down to the level it was before starting TSM. I had it down to only drinking 3 or 4 days a week and I can't help wonder if I should try for some AF days or just keep drinking when I crave, which right now is every day. If any one has any thoughts about this, I'm listening.

Too early to force AF days. You are defeating your addiction by drinking through triggers. Each time you crave a drink, you should drink through it, with the naltrexone blocking the positive reinforcement. That's what gradually reduces the cravings over the long haul. At this point, you could use some effort to reduce your numbers during the drinking sessions. You might find it's easier than you think. At some point you will discover that the high numbers each session are more of a habit than an actual compulsion.

Katie, I think if it's early on, don't worry about AF days (as long as your drinking levels aren't impacting your health in a negative way). I actually found that once I started TSM I drank more days, but less in each session. Like you said, after 8 drinks now I am DRUNK whereas I have been known to sink a LITER of bourbon in a night before.
Good luck and all best,
SL

Thanks Nick and EL
Will concentrate on lowering my drinks per day for the next week or so and then re-evaluate.

Week 4 report
Many many strange cravings this week, one of which was for Grande Marnier, something I only have in "fancy" coffees which is rare, not even one a year. Anyway I bought a 750ml bottle and drank it in 2 days....gross! I'm thinking that will be the last craving I have of that forever!
Drink levels high again, not too concerned. I can tell my brain is fighting back though. Grande Marnier???? Really!
