This topic too has been discussed A LOT on the forum and the majority feel that NAL hangovers are worse. Not having bad hangovers is a nice bonus Joe but I like the Clockwork Orange effect it has had since starting TSM.

My 2.5 cents. Jim

I'm like Joe. My hangovers are much more mild on nal. Especially less anxiety and depression.

I haven't noticed any worse hangovers either.

Last night, had 4 &1/2 drinks. Felt sooo awful this AM! First few sips tasted like regurgitated AL. but I'm a trooper! Drank right thru it. Didn't want it, but drank it anyway. WTF????

For some reason I had 7 units Monday night. I met a old drinking buddy for dinner was good but then when I got home I had more, stayed up late and paid the price the next day. Felt tired and hungover. I almost never got hungover before TSM and never on 7 units. For me I think its a combination of something NAL does and my reduced tolerance since I drink a lot less now. Surely this must be a good thing...I drink less and if I drink too much I pay for it which I didn't before.

That's exactly what's happening with me. I mean I could drink Hulk Hogan under the table at one time. Now? No way. Brother-in-law STILL here from San Deigo. Husband planning a BIG ol' fashoined Clam Boil for some of his "ritalin deficient" relatives. Festivites begin at 5PM. Can't wait for this one. Think I'll just sit back, watch them get wasted & trash my kitchen. Bet your' ass someone other than me will be cleaning this mess!! Recycle guys LOVE my house! No hangovers tonight. No drinking.
Update later. May come on after the festivities are in full swing. Wish I had a Video camera.

good for you Jane!!!! Won't it be great when your family wake up and see the mess - and have to handle it - and their hangovers too!

How I remember the days, struggling to gag down a coffee, get the kids off to school, get to work - only to have to pretend I felt great!! I don't even want to think about it!!

I wonder if we feel so much worse after drinking now, because we don't get any of the pleasure/rush/good feelings from drinking anymore? We're just left with all that alcohol in the body - and the body doesn't like it!!

Hi BGH, I think your' right. Husband has gone to local dump "2. with brother. It is only 1PM. How is it going to be at 5PM, when those foul-smelling" clams are done?? AND Rich is getting up at 4:30AM to drive Ken to airport. Ken is seasoned, Richard is not. Oh well, I will stay in my nice warm bed & get up when I feel like it. Will post more on the "fiasco" as the events begin to unfold.
ALWAYS, JANE

my reduced tolerance

It is interesting that so many users of Nal notice reduced tolerance. It is interesting because it is currently believed that the main factor in alcohol tolerance's is upregulation of alcohol dehydrogenase activity. The decreased tolerance on Nal is almost immediate and is thus unlikely to be due to the lowered ADH activity (because there is no reason to thnk that Nal affect ADH directly and increased expression of ADH that was build up over the years cannot be reduced so quickly be lowering consumption). In other words, there are other, as important as direct metabolism of ethanol, mechanisms of alcohol tolerance in alcohol abusers. And that mechanism is linked to opioid receptor activity.
