Hi dmagnum,

Spitfire's wife here. He's been on TSM for 5 weeks now. Doing really well in my opinion.

As for vacation, when Spitfire took vacation time off work LOOK OUT, heavy drinking to ensue!!

But he's been off work since last Friday, (long weekend here then a few vacay days). He usually drinks beer and so he has been, a couple days more, some days less, but all days WAY LESS than normal.

His fav. thing for weekends or vacay days is rum. He bought a 40 oz. on Sunday and normally he would have that puppy done by Monday night. But it's still there on the bar, and 1/2 full.

Feel confident in yourself while on vacation. I am so surprised with Spitfire's success so far. Usually he is a drunken mess when he takes vacay days and I am working, but that has not happened this week in particular while he's been at home and I've been at work, and also in the last 5 weeks since he's started the TSM I haven't really seen him drunk at all.

You will be fine on vacation. Just take the nal and let it do its thing. You will have a great vacation and feel really confident and in control. Good luck to you and everyone here.

It really is a miracle drug in my opinion!! :)

Thanks, Mrs. Spitfire! You're a truly great and understanding wife. I appreciate your kind words.

I'm so glad to hear that Spitfire is having great success with Nal. I am having a good week on it this week. I will take it next week, and hopefully not go too nuts. (One saving grace of mine is that as I get older, I am less prone to drinking excessively in publice, i.e. in bars and restaurants. I do most of my heavy drinking in the home, where I black out, pass out, or even binge on all types of food I never remembered eating. Since being on Nal, those nights are fewer and fewer, Thank God!)

I hope you get to take a few days off soon! Have a great Memorial Day weekend if I don't hear from you before then.

Hi Friends,

My husband and I were on a mini-vacation for the past week. (It looks like he's going to get a graveyard or second shift for his job, which will mean that we will hardly see each other.)

I definitely drank to excess on some nights during vacation. Tuesday night was the worst, with a blackout and eating junk food after hours. I drank too much some other nights, but remember most things. I also went two nights during vacation without drinking at all.

I am selfish not to read the rest of your posts right now. I'm in a rush. Just came back from vacay and I have to catch up with stuff to prepare with work this week. BLAH!

Hope you are all well. I look forward to reading your posts. Hope you are all getting better day by day.

My friends, I am sorry that I have just skimmed some of your recent posts. I really need to sit down this weekend or next to digest what each of you have been going through.

I have been using Nal since Friday, March 26th. I am not cured, but I definitely feel improvements. For instance, there are nights when my husband decides to drink a few glasses of wine, and I don't feel resentful or jealous. I feel somewhat envious, but my craving to drink isn't anywhere near where it used to be.

I have a glass of red wine in front of me as I type this blog. I'm a bit looped. The small company I work for is struggling financially. (Some customers are behind on bills.) I also have had a bad history of drinking more whenever my husband had uncertainty regarding his unemployment. In spite of this, I am not as loopy as I would normally let myself get. I am not feeling sorry for myself. I popped a Nal. I have a while to go. I'm not feeling sorry for myself, and will not let myself out-drink others simply because I think I have reasons to. I am finally feeling slightly rational while I drink. More on this in another blog... I'll sign off for now, just so that I can make sure that others get home safely. xoxoxox

I was pretty good last weekend and last week. I had a couple of glasses of wine on Saturday night at a family get-together. When I got home, I drank a tall glass of water and went to bed. In the past, I would have gone for more wine once I settled in at home.

Last night was a different story. For some reason, I got drunker than I have been in weeks. The last time I was so drunk was the first night my husband and I were on vacation.

I just have to be patient, I guess. I look forward to detoxing for a few days.

I hope the rest of you have a great week!

Don't fret too much if your drinking spikes now for awhile - this is common to the extinction process. Your addicted brain is not getting the "kick" it used to from drinking, so may create cravings for "more" in an attempt to catch a better buzz. Just take your nal and tell yourself that YOU will have the last laugh, one of these days!

Goin4 (and gettin) more

Thanks. Your explanation makes sense. It's tough to be patient sometimes, though. Still, I am better off now than I was before I used Nal.
