Maggie - So inspirational. Hope to be where you are in the near future. Keep up the good work.

Hi, sun, I miss all the help I have had. I am drinking more and I have been on the Nal for almost 2 years. I gather I gave it the good try and it doesn't work for me. Any help or suggestions.

Hi Meggie!

That's really odd. You're actually drinking more? Have you discussed any other options with your doctor?

Hi Meggie. I believe we started out close to the same time.I just "celebrated" two years of nal use, and I fear it does not work for me either. I am still drinking half of what I was drinking, but the desire is still very strong. Alcohol has a strong hold on me. I, too, miss the support of this forum. It seems to me that once it was comprised of people supporting others in a way the other forum, a great place to get information, did not. Although I believe everyone here is very well meaning, the didactic tone of some of the posts, left me cold and I have chosen to go elsewhere for support.

Meggie, you might drop by http://optionssavelives.freeforums.net/ and have a look around to see if you get along with it. It's pretty active over there.

Hi everyone - I decided it might be time to update my thread. It is three years now since I started Nal - and two years since I had a drink (apart from a glass of bubbly last Christmas Day). I have absolutely NO desire at all to drink. Sometimes it still just seems surreal to me. And sometimes I wish I DID want to drink - there are times when I think that a drink would be really good - but my body just doesn't want it at all! The Nal seems to affect us all so differently - but it does seem to be positive for most of us in some way. I would just reiterate what I have said all along. BE PATIENT. And use this forum - the support that I had really made such a difference to me. I am still in touch with some of the folk who started around the time I did and we still all support each other .....

Hugs to all, Maggie x

How are you doing with the Nal Joe? What is your drinking like these days?

Been doing great, Maggie! I went into TSM with the goal of drinking reasonably and I've held it at about 12 standards per month since August of 2016. I was just telling someone else that I had a notion to slip a little whiskey in my hot chocolate last night, but it just evaporated and I decided it really wouldn't feel all that good in the first place. That's how it mostly goes, the notion to have a drink drifts in and then drifts out within seconds.

I'm still telling people about TSM and offering support here, OSL and the new Alcoholism Medication forum on Reddit. The "Find a Physician" list has really grown and there are a number of Telemedicine listings too. MDProactive covers a bunch of States and all of Canada is covered by a Gov't agency that offers Telemedicine too. Claudia's on the board of advisers for Ria Health, who covers all of California and Tennessee via Telemedicine. It's just getting to be a ton easier for folks to find a TSM doc these days.
