I'm into my fourth week and the past two nights I feel buzzed after two glasses of wine almost the same feeling I'd get finishing a bottle of wine pre-tsm. Is this normal? What happened to the clarity and will this go away?

Thanks for the help :)

Hey, it happens to me too. Sometimes I can feel buzzed on a few glasses and then sometimes I can drink 10 drinks and not feel it at all. I think most of us have felt that way, this medication does change the response to alcohol, in my opinion.

It really took me off guard after being clear headed for almost 4 weeks and then wham I have to go to bed after the fourth glass of wine. I'm just glad I was at home and not out and about. ;)

Hi corkit. I've posted elsewhere that yes indeed, I now get buzzed (unpleasantly, to be honest) on two 5 oz glasses of wine. I even experience what I would classify as mini-hangovers at this level.

I keep drinking my two glasses, though, because I love the taste of wine. I would drink it like water if it were not dangerous.

It bugs me to just sip and swirl and savor it a taste at a time, rather than taking full-mouthed drinks, but somewhat amazingly (to me) - I am able to do just that: take tiny sips. Night after night. I guess I would have to characterize it as control is up, tolerance is down; cravings still fairly high.

Me, too. :) Never drank much quantity-wise but had differing reactions. Sometimes one sip and I felt drunk. Other times I could drink 3 large glasses and felt just an awful "full of alcohol" feeling but certainly not a nice drunk feeling. Now after 13 days I feel nothing with first sip, and thereafter don't feel happy drunk, just feel "full of alcohol" and not great. Hangovers on one small glass like they used to be with 3 large!

This change is subtle though and I think for me it's permanent. Craving is about the same, maybe a little less. I had posted before that I was not going to drink my husbands plonk and buy French wine - I'm re-thinking that as I'm not getting much pleasure from the better stuff - waste of money

The subjective buzz on naltrexone is something that has no identifiable pattern -- people appear to be all over the map on this point. Some people get buzzed more quickly on nalrexone. Personally, the first two or three drinks that used to get me that quick buzz are history. It takes a lot more for me to get buzzed on the naltrexone and even then, it's a "focused" buzz. And after a couple of years of being a visibly drunken ninny, this is just fine by me BTW. (I remember years ago being irritated by people who got visibly wasted on every social occasion, only to gradually meld into that person myself.) And maybe it's a reduced tolerance, but hangovers on naltrexone are far worse than pre-TSM. I rarely have them now, but when I do, it's not pleasant.
