"A recent study found rosacea patients have a significantly higher incidence of bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine compared to controls (47% v. 5%, p<0.001), and that eradication of this overgrowth in afflicted patients, using a 10-day course of Rifaximin, an antibiotic that cannot be absorbed from the digestive tract, produced complete remission of rosacea symptoms in 96% of patients. This remission lasted for at least 9 months without further treatment. In the 4% of patients that experienced relapse, researchers found that bacterial overgrowth had returned, and a second course of eradication treatment again produced sustained remission. [11]"
