I don't know how many of you enjoy reading -- I read voraciously whenever I can, but with 4 kids it mainly involves social studies homework and the occasional Thomas the Tank Engine book for my 3 yr old. But this "adult" book was a compelling story about alcohol addiction and its possible repercussions, and I wanted to share it with my online friends.

It's called "Blame" by Michelle Huneven (fiction, but could be my life). It's about an alcoholic woman who, on a binge, wakes up in jail, unable to remember the mother/daughter Jehovah's Witnesses who were run over and killed in her driveway the night before. She was driving on a suspended license, having several previous DUIs. She goes to jail for two years, but can't forgive herself. The whole AA thing is prevalent throughout the book, but not necessarily revered and sometimes poked fun at. I won't give away the denouement, but it forms the central question of the novel.

And okay, really, I read People and In Touch, so I'm not that deep. But I devoured this in about three days and can't stop thinking about it.

WTE and Hoping, I just read The Help too and stated to a friend that it is possibly my favorite book ever.
