Note my new tag line. It came to me this morning while sitting in a dentist chair.

The old toast
Quote:
Drink to your health <or> Drink to our health

is truly ours. I was amusing myself thinking that I am getting healthier with every drink I take. Last night I toasted my wife and said, here is to my health. Of course she knew exactly what I meant.

I like that it is a play on words and almost devilish for an alcoholic to use such a phrase. But is there a more appropriate motto?

Yes, my S.O. and I have fun with this. When we're ready for a drink, I remind him that we are now drinking "purely for medicinal purposes." Or he'll get up to get a beer and ask me if I'm ready for my next dose of 'medicine.' It's all very surreal. . .

I have talked about this with several of my drinking friends, and those who express interest in hearing more are always MOST interested in the concept that you not only don't have to abstain in order for Nal to work - but that you MUST continue drinking. I believe it is this factor that will eventually override all of the attempts by big Pharm and rehab industries to prevent this cure from becoming mainstream. Drunks don't want to remain drunks - but we don't want to have to quit drinking altogether, either.

It is devilish. Like eating chocolate to loose weight. Sinclair where are you?

As far as quiting, I will go whereever the Sinclair Method takes me. As with so many others, drinknig has caused me a lot of pain and loss over the years. If I could have all that I lost, I would have millions and too many wives.

I don't want to be abstinent in that I never want to be in a position where I am forcing myself to stay dry. Been there-done that. But if I loose all interest in drinking, so be it. I just don't want to live with a peeble in my shoe.

Amen, Brother. I'd be a millionaire if it weren't for booze. Now that I'm off the sauce, I'm more productive but don't have the same energy levels I did 15 years ago.

Hey - don't tell me that! I got up and ran @ 6:00 this morning for the first time in months...decided to try and do "two-a-days" like I used to.

I didn't RUN run, but I did jog mostly..then power-walked 2 this afternoon before hitting the driving range. WHEW - aren't I amazing??!!
LOL all on NTX as I always enjoy sitting on the patio after hitting balls and having a glass of wine...now at home and enjoying another couple. I am drinking "as usual". It was 80 in Houston today...going down to 50 tonight so tomorrow a.m. should be a bit brisk.

I am really counting on this "cure"...I am trying to get my gear together. I figure in 3-4 months, by the time school is out, I will be in a better place with my alcohol addiction - hopefully. I am using Retin-A and hoping in the same time-frame my skin texture will be dewy and fresh. I want to lose these 10 "oh what the hell he doesn't love me anymore" pounds, improve my golf game, and by summer be able to run my freedom flag up the flagpole...and sing and dance naked around the campfire. You will all be invited to join me! :-)

So no talk about lack of energy, N101CS!

Naked! Campfire! Oh wait, it's 50 degrees out. Maybe that could be embarrassing...

LOL.

Yeah - I find it interesting you men picked up on the naked part and not my new tag line "Blind Faith"!! LOL

I was writing at some point about my inspiration from Eric Clapton...there are so many threads going on now I am wearing myself out trying to keep track and think I actually lost the post...BUT -

"BLIND FAITH" - don'tcha love it?? Makes you want to play air guitar to "Sunshine of Your Love" or "I Feel Free", yes?? LOL Seriously, Clapton's autobiography is a good read for anyone who loves the music. I was especially impressed with his ability to overcome addiction to heroine & alcohol - and stay clean during & after the tragedy of his son's death.

I will keep you posted on the particulars of the nude campfire dance, all you crazy peoples! :-)

I love Clapton. Blind Faith is great. I go all the way back to Delaney, Bonnie and Friends and Creme. Did a lot of air guitar to Bell Bottom Blures. My age is showing.

I would not have survived a loss of one of my kids. I know I wouldn't. I had to take off a day from work while my 17 yr old had her wisdom teeth pulled. The thought of anything hurting them floors me. They are everything to me.

Good choice of music. We can play it while camping.

You're funny! I enjoy your posts - music is huge to me. Very therapeutic...I have always been a very happy drunk. I also never felt like I screwed up my kids...and they agree, thankfully. You know how AA talks about the "chaos" in the life of an alcoholic? I never did get that -

My ex-husband's father was a bad/classic example of a bad alcoholic...mean, abusive. My ex married me knowing I drank heavier than he did...he was never tolerant of it. Hated parties. Ugh - it was so unhappy thru the years...

But I digress - I am a happy, optimistic person. Have always seen the glass half full. This treatment has brought me more of the same, like I've said elsewhere. But so far, have seen no real reduction in amount or desire to drink less. I am keeping a log and trying to do so just because I want to be better. Just the possibility of relief eventually...3-4 months...has brought me a great deal of hopefulness and peace.

I apologize if I repeat myself - being here, saying things, is therapeutic...(no matter how it's spelled! LOL)
