Are there any couples trapped in AL on this board? How are the two of you dealing with TSM together? Is one really on board and the other so so. I feel overwhelmed at times doing this with trying to hold on to the cure down the road but no help from the sig. other. The depth of the AL is different between us so I keep on thinking I need to pull the boat. Are you feeling the same thing? How are you dealing with it?

Hi Cork,

Not sure I ever got he chance to welcome you, so I'd like to do so now. I'm one of the old folks here, and while I can't be here too often these days, I try to keep up and chime in when I can. Your post stirred something in me, as I have a husband who's been affected by my alcoholism since we've been together - almost 30 years. He drinks too, sometimes a bit too much, but never to the point of insanity like what he's had to live with from me. It's a weird situation when you both drink, but only one is really in dangerous territory. Like others here, I suggest you don't compare your "progress" with TSM to that of others, as it can vary a great deal from person to person. That's easier said than done when you are going through this with your spouse.

I commend you for diving into what must be a very difficult situation, and I also know you've made that decision out of love, which can overpower logic - but sometimes that is a good thing. It shows you are both on board, even if one is more willing than the other. Just try to support each other, know that it's a rough road, and thank God that at least you're fighting/struggling with something that could not only save your lives, but might also repair and strengthen your relationship in the long run. Hold on tight and BElLIEVE!

Just last spring my husband was pissed off and thinking - "sure, this is just another lie she's trying to sell, and we'll never get out of this Hell". Now, he's a witness to a miraculous transformation, and he'll be the first to say that TSM is responsible for saving our marriage and our family. It just doesn't get any better than that! A year ago, I'd be refilling my cup with a fifth of rum hidden under the couch - and I'd finish it no matter what. Now, it's a big deal for me to get through a 6-pack. It's like being back in high school.... I've got my whole life ahead of me again!

Miracles DO happen, and I'm living proof. You'll both get there, maybe at different times and in differrent ways, but just know it will happen. Trust and love each other, even when it hurts like Hell - you'll make it! We're all here for you. :D

I really appreciate what you had to say and yes I do believe in miracles. I've prayed for a long time that God would make a way of escape for us and then TSM came our way. Yes, I know what you mean about hiding a bottle under sofas, behind sofas, in drawers, garages and so on and so on my husband even now when he should be drinking is still hiding bottles!!! it's just insane. Our marriage has never hit this low before to a point I would rather just be away from him and then the constant worry about if he's taking the pill before he drinks. I just don't want to be his mother anymore. Sorry for the venting but I need to know that this madness is someday going to come to an end.
