I am SO frustrated. Seems TSM has a reputation for being a money-making "product" all over the place. I recently spoke a close relative, explaining that I was getting results with TSM. He said "I tried that. It didn't work for me, and it cost me $3,500" - this makes me crazy! Of coarse I set him straight and have encouraged him to try again, as his 'program' only lasted 4 months. Sure there were some counseling sessions, etc., but he certainly didn't need to spend that kind of money.

But, if you look around on-line, you'll be directed to this $3,500 program in Sarasota from lots of places. In fact, the web site http://www.SinclairMethod.com gets you there in a snap! How confusing is that? Not to mention that site name is almost identical to this one. No wonder people get the wrong idea, and assume this is just another scam. Then you see what is happening at the other sites (like soberrecovery), and it is just further evidence that the wrong message is being sent about our group.

I think it is important that we make it clear that TSM is FREE to everyone, other than the cost of Naltrexone. With these pricey programs constantly mentioning "Sinclair Method", it's easy to assume otherwise. However, it makes me happy that this site comes up first on the search for "sinclair method" - so I propose we take advantage of that. How about having a very obvious sticky (or whatever you call it) that clearly states neither this site, nor TSM has anything to do with money/profit, despite the fact that some treatment programs incorporating TSM do charge for ther services? If this is seen immediately up front, I think it will help to curb the myths being spread about our members, or this site in general. Otherwise, people may continue to assume we are affiliated with these pricey treatment programs. What do you think?

I don't know, they do include a free shot glass for $3,500 I'm not sure I can pass up that deal.

Seriously though, I actually stumbled upon that site by mistake while trying to find this one. I feel bad for anybody that gets suckered into parting with $3,500 for what they could get for the price of Nal. I'm with Krazy1, I think a sticky could be in order here.

That site has had me ticked off for a long time. First, they inaccurately describe naltrexone as being analogous to a nicotine patch. Next, the $$ issue. But I think Sinclair has some vague connection to them; they say so on their site, and my guess is it is the Florida clinic Eskapa mentions in Julia's story. I suppose at one time it was a place to start whan people did not know to look anywhere but a rehab clinic for help. Eskapa published his book less than a year ago, and I would not have known about TSM were it not for hearing about the book on the TSM website. They do offer phone support for longer. So maybe, before the book, and before "Us", this was the only alternative.

I wrote a long post about this very topic on the thread, Anyone Tried Vivitrol? on MyWayOut.

The ones that REALLY rile me up are the ones that charge many times that amount, and tout naltrexone as an anti-craving drug (often in Vivitrol form) with a 90% success rate!!! They are "stealing" tsm statistics for their own, ineffective use of naltrexone!!! One is enterhealth; I have posted about them here before. They charge $37k for a rehab stint!! Another is Integrated Neuroscience, which prompted my post over at MyWayOut.
