Don't we all wish we could speak to those Finns that have been cured for many years now?

When I go to Burningman every year I go with a select group of friends from all over the world, usually, if they can make it. One of them is from Brazil. I had sent her a copy of Eskapa's book about two weeks prior (she has an HFA husband), and she read it. When I finally saw her she said she had done some researching on the internet and found many clinics in Brazil that employ the same method. I responded:

"Are you sure it wasn't just that they were using Naltrexone?"

Her: "No they were doing it exactly as you described and in the way that it was described in the book."

I was a bit confused at first, I'd thought I'd scoured the internet and found every bit of information that existed on TSM. I've never heard of a clinic in Brazil...??

Yeah, then it hit me: "Was it in Portuguese?"

Her: "Sim." [Yes.]

There's a lot more information and knowledge and use of TSM in the world that we're not aware of because we primarily speak English and the rest of the world does not. I wish I spoke Finnish and could interact with some of the people who have been cured in Finland. I wish I could read about and interact with the Brazilians who used TSM but I can't because their internet presence is in Portuguese. From what I've heard TSM is popular in Israel but I don't speak Hebrew or Arabic.

I shock myself from time to time with examples of how close minded I am. This is just one of those times. There's a whole host of experiences with TSM around the world that I wish I could find out more about.

An excellent point LoOp. I think we (Americans, at least) have not only a language barrier, but an attitude barrier as well. We are the country that enacted prohibition after all. And the heavy moral stigma that we attach to alcohol problems is at least partially behind some of the fanatical resistance we are encountering as we try to spread our message. I'm not bashing our country, BTW- I'm one of the flag waving-est guys you will EVER meet - but that doesn't mean some folks couldn't learn to wave flags without bashing other people over the heads with them. I digress.

Anyway, good point about the language barrier. Anyone here speak any other languages? :ugeek:

a little of several languages - unfortunately portugese and finnish (which is similar to Hungarian and no other language I believe!) are not two of them!

As well as language there's cultural attitude to . I think Aericans are good at and like forums probably as they're forthwright about emotions . Some people ( like the Finns I heard are more reserved . The English are getting better but didn't talk about their emotions until about thirty years ago .
