I spoke to a PA today when I was at the clinic.

I asked him if the Chantix could be taken along side the Nal....he got out his trusty PDA and did some searching and said he didnt see anything that suggested they could not be taken together. Then said Yes I think its ok to take the Chantix while on Naltrexone. Im gonna do some more research though.

BTW---before I ordered from River, I went to this guy. He definitely had his hesitations in giving me a script. We took blood etc...and said, if the Doc wont prescribe it than call me. I think he wanted to do some more research. This was over a month ago, and I ultimately decided to just go with River. (Ill go with alldaychemist now because of price) Anyway, I saw him last Sunday, and told him what I was doing with the Nal...told him about TSM...when I saw him today, he said, "oh btw I looked up TSM... very interesting." So I think Ill drop off some literature for him next time round, maybe we can get a PA on our side in my local area.

My thoughts are this:

My wife and I have taken Chantix before....I got down to 1 smoke a day, my wife quit for a month. She was into getting healthy then got injured, couldnt work out, and got depressed and started up again. The only side affects I got was, an initial stomache cramp right after I took it. Didnt notice anything else.

So Im thinking....we only took the initial starter pack of Chantix, which was basically a month supply and was able to get to a very low level of smoking. There is a 3 month maintenance after that. So when I get further down the road on TSM and can have more AF days than AL days during a month, is probably the time to do the chantix. So Im going to wait a bit before I attempt this.

But like I said, the PA said he didnt see anything to indicate that Nal and Tix would have any adverse affects with each other, and suggested that I could do both at the same time.

If anyone has any other info regarding this, please post!

Hi
If you are worried about mixing Nal and Champix have you considered using the e-cigarette to cut down/ give up. I have the D901 (which is a bit of a toy but is fairly cheap and a good way to start) and the ”Screwdriver” which really works well but is a bit pricey.

You may be aware of the e-cig in which case I apologize, but if not the two sites that I recommend for info are

http://groups.ebay.co.uk/clubforum.jspa ... 1481527515

This is the forum on Ebay uk and is a mine of useful information.

The other site worth looking at is

http://www.theelectroniccigarette.co.uk ... ?shop=home

This explains the e-cig concisely and clearly.

These are both UK based but I find them far more usable than the US forum.

Sorry to butt in with a non-nal post but thought it might be useful to you -and sorry I don't know how to do links - yet.

Chris ,

What areyou selling ?!? This sounds like the perfect way to maintain your addiction because it's harmless . A great last resort . I'd rather loose the addiction though !

Hi Elfen, (note the capital E )

I’m sorry that you took my post the wrong way and thought I was selling.

Let me explain why I suggested these to you.

I was a smoker for over fifty years and have tried everything including Champix but the side effects made me so ill that I had to give it up.

I bought one of these having been recommended by a friend, initially to overcome the smoking ban
I then realised that I could use them to overcome my nicotine addiction by weaning myself down to zero nicotine refils.
I now inhale zero nicotine, zero tar, zero carbon monoxide and none of the many other nasties that cigarettes contain. My lungs are clear, I can breathe again. I don’t smell and neither does my house.

All I have to do now is get rid of the hand-mouth habit (and find a way to spend the money I’m saving!!)

If I offended you I am sorry - I was only trying to pass on an altenative way that I have found to overcome my nicotine addiction.

I wish you all the best.
Chris

Oh Chris, Elfern will speak for himself when he comes back on but Having read his posts in the past I took it as dry humor. That doesn't always translate well on the boards.

Best, lena

Hi Chris
that's ok I'm not offended at all . At the end of the day better is always better and it looks like things are alot better for you . In fact i'll bear it in mind . I think I'll at least brave the chantix first and may get away without the side effects .
One thing I don't get is you say you're on zero nicotine ? And that is possible with the electronic cig ? Can you say how so ? Because that makes it even more interesting .
I'm going to wait at least 2 months before next stop . There's also this very likely scenario of the pig flu hitting in the next two months which has to be factored in , it might provide a chance to stop more easily assuming one survives and if not then we'll be sure to stop :P
Elfern :)

Hi Hapful,
I was thinking of getting some Nal from alldaychemist. Have you used them before to know if they are reliable? I looked at their website and they are cheaper than River pharmacy. It looks like alldaychemist is from India. I would like to have some back up pills since I don't always know how soon I can get into my doctor and it would be good to have some extra pills on hand. Just want to make sure these online places are safe, etc. Thanks.
