I was going to wait until I'm officially cured to do this, but at this point I feel that the cure is inevitable, so I went ahead and created a profile for Firebird on MySpace. My purpose is to spread the word about TSM and hopefully bring others here. I just made the profile, so there's nothing fancy there - just some basic info and a couple of links to this site. I'll try to add more as time goes on. No friends yet (except Tom) , but hopefully that will change.

It is my feeling that TSM has basically saved my life, and if there is anything I can do to help someone else find hope, well, I've got to do it. I know that this kind of thing makes it possible for someone to search around and find out who I am, but I don't really care. Anyone who know me knows I have had an alcohol problem, and now they can see that I have found the solution to the problem that has plagued me for some 26 years.

Firebird, that is so wonderful! I give you a lot of credit for creating this and helping others. Let us know how this all works and I for one will be checking. I bet we will have a ton of lurkers and possible joiners from this.

Aren't you supposed to be yourself on Facebook? That would kinda kill the anonymity aspect, wouldn't it? But then again, I suppose you don't have to be a real person, although on Facebook it lends credulity to the Facebook page. I don't know... I'm just rambling...

Think you're right Bob, though I heard there was a (British?) NA and/or AA group on there, and if some of those members are happy to give up their anonymity then surely some of us would also, once cured presumably.

I suppose at the least if a group was set up on there then people who searched for 'alcohol' or other keywords would come across some details of the method. Just another way to get the info out there, and at this stage that seems really important I think.

<edit> searching 'the cure for alcoholism' on facebook brings up a few groups, including one about TSM with...one member.

<edit 2> searching 'the sinclair method' brings up another group with 3 members, one of whom is a certain Roy Eskapa!

I'm not a Facebook expert but they do have groups on Facebook. Like "Anderson High School Class of 1985" or "Minnesota Vikings Fans" for example. We could certainly start a group on Facebook along the lines of "MY ALCOHOLISM WAS CURED BY THE SINCLAIR METHOD" or something like that. I agree that Facebook is now by far the leading social networking sight ahead of Myspace -- senior citizens are even "friending" me now on FB so that tells you how popular it is and MySpace is no longer at that popularity level. Anyone who is more familiar with FB than me, HAVE AT IT! And by the way, if you need a "real person" to start the page, PM me and let me know. I'm ready to go public with my identify if necessary. As I've said, no one can fire me and all my friends/family know about my habit.

MySpace tends to appeal to the younger people - under 15 really. Facebook is everyone and anyone else over that. I know this b/c I'm entrenched in that whole adolescent pool...but no matter, drinking is affecting kids as soon as they enter middle school so any exposure to this cure on whatever site is wonderful!

To have a group on FB would be even better - I just don't want to go public under any circumstances, and actually feel like I have revealed way too much of my personal self in this huge city enough on here. May have to go back and delete everything I've said at some point. Just kindof bugs me that anyone could connect the dots...

Bottom line, as I say, every opportunity to spread the word of the hope with this, the better!
