Hi,
This is day 8 for me. I was thinking I might be able to make this an AF day, but now I'm wanting a drink, thinking of taking a pill and having a drink in an hour. I am aware that right now, I am looking for physical pain relief (back and neck pain). This is one often one of the reasons I start to drink and it works. But, am I remembering correctly that the Nal actually blocks the pain relieving factor in alcohol?

Thanks!

It might, you'd have to try it to see. Alcohol has other effects on the body and brain aside from releasing endorphins.

While I was drinking (well before TSM), I used to have a constant burning in my upper back/neck, possibly from spending too much time at the computer. I started taking 1200-2400 milligrams of borage oil on an empty stomach in the morning and noticed a difference in the first week. I stopped taking it and the pain came back, restarted it and the pain went away. I think I finally took it for about 6 months and I started feeling a bit depressed, so I stopped it and the pain didn't come back for years. When it did, a short course of the borage oil did the trick.

I had other friends try it on lower back pain and it helped a bit, but not to the degree it helped with my neck. If your problem sounds like mine, you might want to give it a try, as I recall I used the Jarrow brand and took it first thing in the morning.

Thanks Joe. I'll look into that. So, I got my answer. I had one drink and it did take the edge off the pain, but it wasn't worth it. I had dinner after that and felt nauseous. Couldn't eat much. I was trying to have an AF day and wasn't really craving it, but it was more of a habit, I guess a trigger of that time of day and I used my pain as an excuse even though I didn't really want it. So now I'll try to pay more attention and not drink if I'm not really craving it.

A trigger is a trigger, the more important thing to note is that the Lizard Brain responds to it with an urge to drink. That's what TSM is going to be erasing, so you did exactly what you were supposed to do.

Do you always get the nausea?

No, I don't usually get nauseous. I did have some stomach discomfort the first few days but that's been gone since this last thing.

So yesterday I did manage to go the whole day with no alcohol. First time in a while. I wanted to make it two days and was going to try today too but I'm tired and starting to think I want a drink. I'm thinking I might take a pill soon.

"... but I'm tired and starting to think I want a drink. I'm thinking I might take a pill soon."

That's exactly how you're supposed to do it. If you want a drink, follow the One Hour Rule and have a drink. If you can hold it to one, so much the better, but if you really feel like another, go for it and take it slowly. Keep on doing that with subsequent drinks and when you first get the feeling that you're not interested in another, act on that. That's the feeling that's going to be building over the weeks and months. It will come sooner some days, later others, but overall it will be increasing. It's the way you'll feel most of the time as you get closer to your goal.
