My drinking has stayed the same (10+ units per day) and my partner was threatening to leave - plus I was Dx with mild fatty liver so I don't think it's sensible for me to continue on that path. I have been religious about the method since starting and had recently upped my dose to 75mg with no change.

I stopped taking Campral about 6 months ago and found my drinking increased, so I have recommenced this and it's helping. I am day 2 AF and feel quite lethargic but I'm committed to doing the month and reviewing. I know I'll start drinking again after that period and will mostly likely continue with TSM - perhaps hitting reset will make a difference? I don't trust the process enough to continue as I was - I could potentially lose everything...and still be drinking!

Campral works when AF - it removes my cravings as soon as I take it.

I hope TSM can have some affect when this month is over!

Some have used TSM after a period of abstinence, Mum. There are other things besides Nal and Campral. Baclofen is another.

Have you had your hormones checked recently? I've read reports from a number of women that didn't have a drinking problem while pregnant, but later on just couldn't seem to moderate/quit. Google:

Progesterone alcohol craving

I think it would take a doctor to ferret that out though, it's not like you can pop a progesterone pill and be on your merry way.

Hang in there, Mum! Keep on posting and let us know how you're getting along.

Hi Joe - thanks for supporting me!

I haven't had them checked, no - however I did crave alcohol terribly when pregnant so I'm not sure that theory would be relevant to me.

I'm on day 6 AF and I feel....amazing! I'm actually a pretty nice person sober....who knew?! I know it's early days though. Campral works, cravings are zero. I know it's not a long-term solution however.

I do plan to return to TSM at this point, after October. I hope I can say by then the vodka is out of my life as so far when I envisage drinking again, it's wine...and TSM worked better for me with wine than Vodka.

Thanks again & I hope you are doing well also :)

Excellent, Mum! So glad the Campral is doing the trick for you!

" however I did crave alcohol terribly when pregnant"

Go figure! Progesterone has an impact on the GABA receptors, perhaps it varies by person as to exactly which GABA receptors are stimulated.

Liquor really seems to slow down the process for more than a few, good observation and I think you've got a good plan there. Did you see Generic's post?

Joe I hadn't seen that post but THANK-YOU!! Much food for thought after this period of abstaining. Joanna from C3 also correctly identified that the volume of Vodka I was consuming per drink was my downfall (3-4 units in one go, ouch). I so hope I don't crave Vodka again. It really did work with wine if I was mindful...other times I went nuts because I absolutely wanted to get drunk with mates. But alone at home - 1 to 2 glasses tops.

I can identify with everything he said there. AF does feel great...like really great!! I will be gutted if I return to that place after this month.

Thanks again :)

You're welcome!

The social scenes are a tough spot too! Many have mentioned it. Had you shifted to vodka when your numbers started climbing back up?
