I'm on my second day of the SM and so far it seems to be curbing my intake. Question though, today I took a pill around noon because I knew I'd be having a beer with lunch out. Now it's almost 5p and friends would like me to come out for drinks. I just took a half a pill to make sure I'm covered. Is that the best way to handle these types of situations? To take more than one dose in a single day?

NAL will cover you for up to twelve hours. I'd recommend another 50mg dose at the 10th hour. Some do 11.

You also can't overdose on Naltrexone -- I've given very high doses of it (IV form=Narcan) to overdose patients in the ER. It can only fill the receptors 100% -- the rest is just metabolized. Narcan at least wears off relatively quickly. Interesting story -- I was talking to a Bostonian the other day who was telling me they hand out Narcan syringes in that area because there are so many deaths from heroin overdose. The idea being, the addicts' friends inject someone who overdosed so they don't die. This teenager OD'd one day, got the Narcan shot from his best friend, woke up and went about his day. But, he died in a few hours in his bed as the Narcan wore off and all the heroin in his system RE-overdosed him. In pill form, though, it does last a long time (I can "feel" Nal in my system for at least 30 hours).
