Hello Everyone!

I am a student from the republic of Georgia and as the situation in Georgia regarding alcoholism is really terrible and people have no idea about the existence of TSM, I am conducting a research about alcoholism and implementation of The Sinclair Method in the spa centers.

For the research I created the google survey and I need around 100 responses in order to have a clear idea of people's opinion regarding this problem, their attitude towards the Spa+TSM concept and whether or not they will visit the Spa Center that will offer TSM along with other spa cervices (i.e. massages, yoga, mineral water procedures, etc.).

Here is the link of the questionnaire (it is in Georgian and English languages): http://goo.gl/forms/YZdvj9G72a

Please, if you have time, write your opinion - what do you thing about this concept? do you think it will work (why/why not)?
I'd also like to know your opinion about the questionnaire itself...

Thanks in advance!

Eldorean,

I guess this is meant only for those that are in Republic of Georgia, for when I clicked on the link it was in a different language.

I think there are a couple of High end drug/alcohol rehab centers that focus on the entire person, and not just the addiction, here in the U.S., but unfortunately, they use a 12 step programs (as least the ones I know of). I think it is a wonderful idea to work on the person and not just the addiction. Add TSM to the mix, and it sounds like a wonderful retreat that most people could not afford and health insurance would most likely not cover. Again, I am sure things are different in the Republic of Georgia.

I wish you luck,

Jaba

If you scroll down, it's in english too, though I don't have much of any knowledge about Georgia.

Per TSM, one would drink when the craving presents itself, but only after taking Naltrexone and waiting one hour.

I read that healthcare and insurance are privatized now. Will there be both an outpatient and inpatient option?

Joe,

It goes to show you how quick I was there. I guess I need to look at it again.

I think having alcohol support classes for family and the person involved would be helpful (sorry if it was listed).

I think this is good idea; however, Joe has a good point about taking the pill when the craving hits and waiting one hour. BUT, when most of us start for the first couple of months there is no waiting, for the cravings are so strong we are lucky to get past the daytime without starting to drink. I would try to hold off on my drinking until after 5 pm, but come the weekend all bets were off. Have a treatment plan fit the patient, and the more personal the better. No one likes a cookie cutter program. Even in TSM we have to find our own way and what works for us, for what works for one may not work for another.

Since it can take many months to work, it is not appropriate for a spa setting.

in the United States, no insurance would pay for that sort of thing anyway

Several months treatment in a spa here would cost more than a house!

And I would love every minute of it!

Maybe the person could stay until they grasps the idea, or feels more comfortable would be a realistic time frame.

I know those first couple of weeks, especially that first nal over, was hard being alone. But, I wasn't telling anyone, nor was I sharing with this forum, well not until that nal over.

Dear all,

Thanks for your responses! The questionnaire is in two languages, it just needs a little scrolling. And the question about Georgia can be left unanswered. So feel free to answer and check other questions :)

I'm gonna need more and more responses (I think some of you will be interested in the results as well). I believe that the service can be offered to the spas, it is just a matter of how will it be designed and for this I am conducting the research.

As for insurances - of course spa stay will take around one month (and I agree with Jaba, it can be powerful start for TSM). I was doing my internship in a medical spa (sanatorium) in Karlovy vary, Czech Republic and I met many Czech and German customers who were covered by insurance companies and they were using variety of procedures and treatments, including medical checkups (for up to 30 days). So I can easily imagine that it can be done in my country as well.

My point is that when a person is being treated with TSM the process can be very boring (for some of them), or very hard. I can imagine a person (for example my father, who is seriously addicted) who thinks that the only happiness in this life is drinking, takes Nal and sees that nothing there is left to enjoy, or better to say, he/she doesn't know how it feels to enjoy other things. And here massages and swimming pool or simply a little trip in the forest will fill the 'gap'. I think the benefits of the treatment can be doubled as a result (even tripled if their family members will join them in this kind of spa).

But this I must prove.
