I was looking around the net to find some more info on the mechanisms of NAL and its overall use as an opiate antagonist. I discovered some boards frequented by drug addicts and those trying to help them. I was wondering what the extent of NAL's dosage stays in the body and for how long. I saw differing lengths for the "half-life" of the drug. One stated NAL's half-life was only six hours. Another said 13 hours (which seems most likely to me). And one guy said his doctor said it was up to 39 hours. This is all for the standard 50mg dose.

Some Heroine users also said they could not get any high for at least 48 hours after taking a 50mg dose and it took about 72 hours for full effect. I was wondering how this plays into using NAL for alcohol on TSM? Anyone have any insight? Has this been posted before?

10-12 hours is the definitive measure echoed here and specifically by the OptionsSaveLives councilors who communicate regularly with Dr. Eskapa.

The mean elimination half-life (T-1/2) values for Naltrexone and 6-ß-naltrexol are 4 hours and 13 hours, respectively. Naltrexone and 6-ß-naltrexol are dose proportional in terms of AUC and Cmax over the range of 50 to 200 mg and do not accumulate after 100 mg daily doses.

Absorption:
Following oral administration, Naltrexone undergoes rapid and nearly complete absorption with approximately 96% of the dose absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Peak plasma levels of both Naltrexone and 6-ß-naltrexol occur within one hour of dosing.

I hope the link works.

This is why Sinclair said to have a wash out (AF DAYS) of the drug starting Friday and then Sunday do something to help the good endorphins. Please do not think that you will have coverage of the nal for alcohol as you would for heroine.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think that heroin and alcohol would work the same way with NAL, just wondered what the correspondence was...
