Someone posted a question in the Cured section about the Vivitrol injections. I am not sure about this, nor if TSM works with it. Does anyone know?

I switched to the once a month Vivitrol injections about a year ago. The time release shot lasts 28 days. My drinking has curtailed significantly. I can now attend a cocktail party and have one or two drinks and then switch to water. I have been drinking heavily for 10- years and for me, this is a miracle. I am not a good pill taker, so for me, this is the better option. I don't want abstinence, I simply want to be able to drink as a normie. In the process, I have lost 55 lbs. I am also on Prozac, and have been for 10 years, so the combination of the two drugs have helped me lose the weight. My doctor says he has other patients who claim weight loss, but no one to my extent.

Movergal, while I'm glad you are pleased with your management practice it's not TSM and I worry that it might create confusion. This is a copy/paste from the other thread:

The Vivitrol shot is not TSM. A Vivitrol (slow release Naltrexone) shot blocks endorphins 24/7 for 30 days. Taking 50mg Naltrexone orally allows you to target the endorphins released from drinking. Further, the endorphin release is available for healthy rewards such as exercising, sex, etc when not drinking. This is how extinction occurs. You should read the text, The Cure for Alcoholism in order to better understand the method.

In short TSM requires taking naltrexone one hour before drinking, every time, for the rest of your life. In theory in 6-8 months your alcohol dependency will be eliminated ( in 80% of people) providing you remain rigidly compliant. Lastly, you must drink to achieve this, but it will be a new relationship with alcohol absent of the rush/buzz you've come to know. You can not be on Vivitrol.
