I had 2 AF days this last week purely from looking at myself and how alcohol is taking a toll on my looks. I don't want to be conceited but I have always been told I was very good looking and looked so much younger than I am. I am now 58 years old but some mornings I think I look like I am 70 with the puffy dark circles under my eyes and my eyes are always red and cloudy from my dry eyes and drinking. I also have noticed my vision is getting really bad especially when I am driving so I do need to go get my eyes checked. I have to put on so much makeup these days just to not scare people when I go out and not look like I am sick.
Well if being vain gets me to more AF days then that is a good thing but I really hate ageing and alcohol is not helping at all.
I am also going through menopause so I wake up every hour or so with hot flashes which doesn't help with my sleep and adding to my tired look.
Also I have been super stressed with selling my home, packing, moving and buying another home so that adds to the wear and tear on a person. I can hardly wait to get today's move over with and finally get my stuff unloaded to my new home in the middle of August.
I will be a kind of gypsy for a month and half staying at friends and families places in between and lot's of them are drinkers so I will just have to keep to the Golden Rule and pace my drinking.
Well that's my rant for the day, lol.

Rant on Cheeto - just follow the golden rule! No one can stop aging but you can control the aging that comes from those drinks! Congratulations on those AF days - you look younger already!

Haha thanks Reboot.

This may help with calculating Drink Units http://knowyourlimits.info/know%e2%80%a6-your-units

Or I use calculations by Drinks http://rethinkingdrinking.niaaa.nih.gov ... ulator.asp

I am with you Cheeto. I am 54 so I am right behind you and yes, AL absolutely is not our friend when it comes to aging. AND, anyway we can get ourselves to cut down, let's do it!! Good for you for the 2 days AF. I had 2 AF during the past few days also, though not 2 in a row.

Nal on my dear!! xoxo Newlife

I discovered that I didn't need to wear much make up, if at all once I reduced my drinking, it took a while but 3-4 weeks and there was a noticeable improvement.

It's amazing how much damage the body can repair if caught in time. A huge incentive.

Wow. I'm 52 and look like crap compared to even 5 years ago thanks to weight gain and booze. Yes, it is f-ing motivating!

Definitely motivating to me. I can even see the difference week to week and day to day. Also, don't you sometimes look at friends or old high school friends and think to yourself "I bet she drinks?" I know that I do!! HATE to think that others might be thinking the same about me.

ANY incentive at all.............Nal on!! Newlife

I wanted an AF day yesterday but gave in to the cravings.
I am going to be hard on myself and push for an AF day today and tomorrow!
These AF days are not coming easy but I know I have to work on them to change my drinking habits!

Oh gosh - I so agree with you all. I noticed the other day - after having had a lot of AF days on and off within a period of time that my skin was looking better and my eyes clearer etc. And now after four days in a row of AL, I am back to looking OLD again - not that I mind looking old - after all I am old - LOL but I want to look good for 62, not try and look 50 - if you follow ?

So - AF day today for me !!!

Hugs to you all, Maggie x
