The puzzle about male infertility has found one piece that was missing. Specifically, it has been following research published in Nature Communications' in which he explained that a team of scientists has managed to reverse the microcephaly (insufficient progress skull) during embryonic development of mice eliminating the protein causing the loss stem cells and thus also found that male rodents without the gene CEP63 suffering infertility. "The relationship of this protein in sperm production is totally new," explained the scientists at the Institute of Biomedical Research (IRB) who led the research, Travis Stracker and Jens Luders.
The study concludes that CEP63 is related to the fertility of male mice. Scientists have discovered that this protein is involved in the generation of sperm and that without it the mice suffer severe infertility. "We know that without CEP63 no problems during meiosis, a specialized form required for male germ cells that produce sperm cell division," has detailed Stracker.
