I had some wine last night. It didn't feel like I drank that much, and honestly, I was pretty happy with myself for not going and getting more. This morning I went to calculate my consumption, and was shocked to learn it was 10 units. I would have guessed 4 maybe 5 tops.

Week one 53 units 1 AF
Week two 45 units 0 AF
Week Three 44.5 units 0 AF
Week four 45.5 units 0 AF
Week five 42 units 0 AF

That depends on whether you measure in UK or US units, strength of wine and volume drank.

UK units are measured like this;

strength of alcohol (%) x volume in mls / 1000 = units

So

1 bottle of wine = 750mls
Strength 12%

12% x 750mls / 1000 = 9 UK units

I seem to remember that US units about about half this - so 9 UK = 4.5 US units or thereabouts. EDIT using the calculator below I have found that 1 UK unit = 0.564 US units so the bottle of wine I calculated above is equivalent to 5.07 US units.

I know from speaking to other people that a bottle of wine does contain a lot more that most people think it does/

Are all of the units this calculator normally gives in UK amounts? I have been using it since the beginning. Should I convert my weekly numbers then, too?

Hey, KitKat. This calculator, which seems to be through the same source as the one UKblonde gave, is the one I use. It allows you to do units for US or UK (or several other countries).

It's mostly how you want to count, it can be useful for others reading if you specify which units (UK or US) that you are using.

Main thing is that you can track your own consumption.
