I am waiting for my NAL to arrive and one of the things I found while doing research was the newly released documentary produced by Claudia Christian called One Little Pill. You can access the film on the C3 Foundation website here http://www.cthreefoundation.org

I liked it and so did my wife. I'd have to say I think it did a lot to help allay some of her fears and dispel skepticism she might be feeling. Yesterday both of my sons watched it too, and I think it was a really good way to explain to them what's been happening to me and what I'm trying to do about it. My sons are 10 and 15. I wasn't sure if the little guy would be able to follow it but he did.

Anyway I thought I would throw this out there for discussion ( I did a search first). I'd recommend it for anyone who wants a positive way to explain TSM to a spouse or child. I can be an intensely private person and my drinking has always been a tough subject.

Hope my NAL arrives soon, it's in an international mail sorting facility somewhere on the other side of the world................. :(

I have downloaded and watched the One Little Pill video too. I thought it was extremely well done and very reasonably priced at $9.99. (I am not crazy about the title though - Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" from 1967 came to mind when I first heard it!) I have sent gift copies to a couple of people who have expressed interest in Sinclair to me. I noticed that the video did not mention very often that therapy, along with Naltrexone, can be very effective for many people, versus Nal alone. I think it is an individual choice and whatever works best or can be afforded should be done, but I had good success with therapy and Naltrexone combined.

I hope the video gets broadcast in the US. I think it could go a long way in raising awareness that there are effective options available to help people. The medical community throughout the states is generally very provincial in thinking that AA and 12 step are the only ways to go. They seem very reluctant to treat alcohol use disorder medically. The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) published a meta-analysis of 123 separate studies in May 2014 that concluded that pharmacotherapy for AUD is very effective, but underused. That should help!
